Comp picks in 2011

I know I am way ahead here, but since we will be picking 32nd in each round, plus our traded picks, has anyone seen any comp pick projections from AdamJT13? I know we lost B. Watson and Jarvis Green (who was cut), not sure if signings of Crumpler and Warren counteracted those...can anyone shed some light?

Looks like no comp picks in 2011, but just wanted to know more if anyone knows...

I checked his blog and he hasn't posted there since April, but as I recall he posts often at KFFL - but when I did a quick google search I don't see anything on the 2011 comp picks yet.

I know the biggest factor is the player's contract. If a team cuts a player before his contract expires it doesn't help the old team, nor does it hurt the new team in figuring out the comp picks. And if a player is signed after June 1, then it doesn't hurt the new team in the comp formula.

It will be interesting to see how Jarvis Green's situation works out in the comp formula.

I don't believe that Watson's contract fully cancelled out by Crumpler's because there is such a difference in money.

Also, to the OP, Gerard Warren doesn't count in the figured because he was cut last year.

Excellent info on Warren. So methinks our best hope is for Jarvis to count somehow so he cancels out Crumpler and then we get a comp for Watson...

As AdamJT13 has explained, the system doesn't actually work that way.

No team that has signed more "qualifying" FAs than they lost has received a comp pick. Ever.

No team that has signed as many as it lost has gotten more than a single seventh-round comp pick, and that's only if there's a massive difference in the average annual value of the contracts, and I'm not sure that the difference here is big enough.

That's why I'm rather pessimistic; the best case scenario in my mind is a late comp 7.
