LBs in zone coverage

You want to know why it's a bad idea to play a lot of man with a young secondary? Go back and watch a few Texans games, that's why.

Exactly! It is part of the Belichick scheme to minimize unrecoverable mistakes. The Patriots are offering a open middle inviting the short pass. As they gain experience, Belichick will squeeze the open middle shut, and will surprise a few QBs in the process.

Everone forget that in a season of perhaps 18-19 games, the season is just more than half over. So there is time to improve, before attempting the SQUEEZE.

Well said. The D is being manged at this point. Confidence is growing. As we get further along, the playbook will open up and holes will close.

Great thread. A pleasure to read and learn a bit.

Maybe it's just me but the Cleveland, Indy and Lions game we were getting zero pressure on the QBs giving them at least 3-5 seconds to find something. Even when we did get McCoy and Hill out the pocket we couldnt them tackled and they broke big plays

We need another DL who can bring pressure (other than Wilfork and Wright). Warren back next year will help. We also could do really do with a speed rush OLB to compliment Cunningham who is a bull rusher.

That way when we do only bring 3 or 4 in all these multi DB sub packages we arent giving these QBs all day. Even the Hill's and McCoys will get it done eventully, as will Sanchez with the recievers he has
