We know that the whole team is scoring points and is #5 in points scored. But let's look at some stats of just the offense.
RUNNING GAME
Yes, it's mediocre, but it isn't terrible. The YPC are #15 at 4.1 for 107 yards per game (also 15th). No team has fewer lost fumbles. These are not terrible stats for our passing team.
PASSING GAME
I've heard rumors that Brady and the passing game are both aweful this year.
Completion % 63.1 #9
Interception % 1.9 #5
QB Rating 93.4 #5
TD % 5.3% #6
Win % 75% #1 (tie)
There must be some relevant stats or analysis that I am missing.
IS THERE ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT?
Sure there is! Brady is running a new offense with four receivers who are either injured or coming back from major injuries. The tight ends are all brand new to the team. The receiving running back is also new to the team.
I expect the offense to do better in the last four games of the season than the last four (or the next four). I expect the offense to be more on the same page. And yes, I hope for some health.
And for you who like to complain our OL, it will continue to be among the best in the league. The OL was having a solid season. The addition of Mankins will make it even better. There should improvement in the play at LT, LG and C. The blocking by our TE's has been excellent.
If we don't make the playoffs, it will not be because our offense a top offense. If we don't make the playoffs, it will be because the offense wasn't GREAT enough to make up for our deficiencies on defense. It is difficult for the offense when we are last in minutes, last is % completions against us and 5th worst in opponent's QB rating. Last I saw, our 3rd down percentage was the worst of any team.
Finally, for those who complain about our OC and offensive playcalling, I used to agree with you. Certainly, in early games the playcalling, schemes, and in-game adjustments seemed pretty aweful. In case we haven't noticed, this has imporved a great deal. Now, when we lose, it is because the players didn't execute. The coaching is more than adequate.
