I saw on ESPN's crawler this morning that Mankins would be starting today. Could someone else confirm and post a link? (I'm on my phone now)

Reiss says he expects Mankins to play or else he wouldn't have been activated, but I haven't seen anything about starting.

Re: Report: Wheatley to be realeased

If there was any truth to that whatsoever then the Patriots would have offered Mankins a 4 year - $28 million dollar long term deal to have him end his hold out (ala what the Jets did with Revis.) Or agreed to a one year $7 million dollar deal.

The fact that the Patriots were willing to win 6 out of 7 games w/o Mankins and let him sit at home until he reported under the Patriots terms says they don't think he is worth that much. We can say the Patriots do think he is worth at least $3.2 million based on that is what they initially offered to pay him this year.

As has been noted time and again, Kraft stated that the Patriots offered Mankins a deal similar to Mangold's. Mangold got 7 years, $55 million.

Re: Report: Wheatley to be released

If true, then I'll be the first to admit I was wrong; I thought there was close to zero chance that Mankins would be activated for the game against the Browns. He must have done very well in practice this week; Belichick talks about the difference between being in shape versus being in football shape, getting your timing down, etc.

The other thing I am thinking about is that perhaps BB wants Mankins to get some live reps in before the Steelers game. As for Wheatley, it's really too bad; it sounded like he had a very good training camp but BB must have figured he can't do much good for the team if he's constantly sidelined with an injury.
We dont know how much he will play.
