NFL Truths: Making sense of Moss - NFL News - FOX Sports on MSN

i dont get this point of view. even florio said this on weei that pats were faking their affection for moss because BB was worried that "this guy could end up in any team in the future and come back to burn them" . Whitlock says the same thing that BB is laying a foundation for future moss like players. Seems really far fetched and somewhat insulting to the pats even when are being nice. Any other team did this, they would be termed 'classy'.

This is the point I stopped reading...

I’m not sure I see him as a first-ballot Hall of Famer anymore.

One of Whitlock's more enlightened pieces in eons. The entire Moss experience here from start to finish was as much about the business of football as anyting. And this organization is built to do business in a model fashion few can replicate. That's why despite any number of lickins' it keeps on tickin'. Scandal, discontent, injury, mistakes in judgement, are all survivable because it's how you deal with them that matters, not that they happen because they will happen everywhere.

That's right. The OP is way off base suggesting that the NEP, or any other successful business, are shooting for "nice" or "classy". By the way, who wants to be described as "nice" or "classy"? Sound like empty words to me.

Here's the summarized short version for those who don't want to read it:

1) I can read Moss's mind.
2) Moss doesn't do things like others = bad = no 1st ballot HOF for him.
3) Pats pimped Moss therefore = bad
5) Brady manipulated Moss, has hot wife.
6) Childress dumps Moss, blames on insignificant event = good
7) Titans and Fisher will pimp Moss = very good
8) Now Vikes will win it all.

Yup. The New England Patriots is a business. Businesses exist to provide a product and/or service for which people will be willing to pay a profit. Nothing more, and nothing less, if you wish to survive and prosper.

This team provides a superior product, and is built to continue to provide said product for the long haul.

It is what it is, and in this case, IT is a well-made product.

So, let me get this straight:

Texting a picture of your pecker is okay. Saying that caterered food looks like sh*t, not okay.

It's enlightened because it jives with your over the top hatred of a guy?

Whitlock is an idiot, he belongs on a messageboard because what he says is about as absurd as it comes.

I’m not sure I see him as a first-ballot Hall of Famer anymore.

Idiot.

Moss doesn’t love the game. He plays because he was born with the talent and it makes him rich.

Idiot.

He has no clue the Patriots didn’t give him a new contract and traded him because they never loved him. They hit it and quit it.

Idiot.

Seriously, just about every line in that piece is idiocy.

I know someone who does

had you just showed me the text of this "article", I would have guessed it was from Bleacher report. You know, one of those slide shows or something.

well..iam not saying they are shooting for it. But the fact that BB etc are carefully handling moss because they are say worried if he might come back and burn them or some other percevied moss alike like harvin may end up playing for the pats is really far fetched. BB is good but i find this kind of scheming really too much. Are they really that worried that moss might come back and burn them in the future/next yr etc that they have to handle it this way ? My point is that there some genuine respect and like for moss in those statements and not pure garbage. They may have chosen not to talk about the -ves ,doesnt mean the +ves are intended with any devious means.

Whitlock? Isn't he the guy that said Brady would never be the same after his injury? Yes, yes he is.

NFL Truths: Brady will always hear the footsteps - NFL News - FOX Sports on MSN

Tom Brady is never going to mentally get over his knee injury. I hurt my right knee in 1988, tearing an ACL. I still dream about my college roommate getting blocked into my knee during spring practice. Brady's fearlessness in the pocket is/was the asset that separated him from every other quarterback. Through two games this season, Brady looks ordinary in the pocket. He's not afraid. He's just cognizant of the fact that on any given Sunday someone else can do what Bernard Pollard did despite rule changes implemented to stop it. Wes Welker's absence last week accentuated the problem. Welker is the guy Brady turns to when the pass-rush heat gets warm quick. When this season is over, we might be looking for a new quarterback king. Drew Brees is the early favorite. Peyton Manning could also ascend to the throne. And don't count out Big Ben Roethlisberger, the new king of pocket toughness.

It's hard to get behind a guy who writes stuff like this:

“Girl, Belichick took good care of me. He got my hair and nails did. And he put it on me.”

Iceberg Belichick taught Brady the pimp game. Gisele should blame Belichick.

.....

First, the caterer story is significant, and I don’t blame Brad Childress for factoring it into his decision to release Moss. Even at the professional level, coaches do pay a little bit of attention to building character among the players. Moss disrespected another human being -- for no reason other than he could -- in front of the entire Minnesota locker room. That’s unacceptable.

Um, when you're the star QB and make sexual advances at a lower employee, that's not disrespectful?

Whitlock is a tool.

Against better judgement I read the article. I want that part of my life back. My bad.

From the article

>>>Tennessee sacrificed nothing by claiming Moss.<<<<

Didn't they get Minnesota off the hook for the pro-rated remainder of his $3.4 million contract?? If he cleared waivers, Minnesota would have been on the hook for it and Randy could have signed for the minimum elsewhere, essentially double-dipping. By claiming him, Tennessee picked up his contract and the guaranteed portion for the rest of the season....

Remember it's written by Whitlock. Facts are irrelevant to making cool points.

the correct title should be jason whitlock: NOT making sense of moss. anybody who reads and falls for his slop deserves what they get, which is basically misinformed.

Here's about all I need to know about Whitlock's opinions on football matters. This is from early in the 2008 season, when Brady went on IR.

Jason Whitlock Continues To Be Part-Time Publicist For Jeff George's Lonely Right Arm

"Advice To Belichick: Sign Jeff George"

Yes, I know Jeff George hasn’t thrown a pass in an actual NFL game since 2001 and hasn’t been on a roster since Lovie Smith and the Bears let him go at the end of the 2005 season.

You do realize that Todd Collins went six years without starting an NFL game before leading Washington to three victories last season? You realize Todd Collins was never as good as Jeff George?

You realize even at age 40 and having lived in football exile for three years, Jeff George still has one of the five best arms in the game? Oh, he can still wing it with the best of them. He’s in great shape. He’s ready to go right now.

Bill, I’m not crazy. Yes, I’m in the tank for Jeff George. We grew up together on the east side of Indianapolis, and we take loyalty very, very seriously.

He’s not perfect. He mishandled his career and talent. But the dude is 40 now and still wants to play. He can get the ball to Randy Moss and stretch a defense.

Ever since then I am unable to take anything he says seriously. Like too many others in the sports media, I think he says things simply to get a reaction. And once again, he has succeeded. I seriously doubt that he himself believes anything he says.

Ohhhh, that is bad, bad, bad.

This guy is a twit.

I didn't even know who Whitlock was, but at least now I know to avoid him.
