PFT: Patriots, among many other teams, expected to make a waiver claim for Moss

True that but im all for taking those cheating safties out the box, you got to love Welker doing his thing.

It said we got rid of him... Look feel free to argue that some how he is going to miraculously pass though waivers and the Pats will just take him back after trading him away just 4 weeks ago. Just my 2 cents... he's not coming back. If by miracle he did, I would be fine with it. I like Randy and have already said this earlier in this thread but would like to have him back. I just don't see any way it happens.
It's not going to take a "miracle." How many teams want to pay Moss for the kind of production he's had this year at over $6 million for 9 games? And how many teams will actually pay that kind of money just to keep him off the Patriots?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if no claims him--not only because of the money, but because of the potential distraction if he decides that he only wants to play for the Pats. Moss can and probably will decide not to report to any team that claims but the Pats. He's seen the light as far as the NFL goes. And frankly, that's the message he's been sending all along.

Whether or not the Pats would take him back is another story.

Even with Moss taking the "cheating" safeties out of the box the first four games, Welker still hasn't been that great. The guy just isn't the same post injury.

Re: PFT: Patriots expected to claim Moss

Your original title was misleading. A lot of posters would look at that and take it as the article was saying that the Patriots were the only team expecting to put in a claim for Moss and that it was a sure thing. Why would I tell it to PFT when you're the one that made the thread title?

I don't think most of us had any trouble determining the meaning of the thread. If you understand the waiver process, you know Pats can't just claim Moss outright. It looks like you just like to nit-pick and complain about things...

This makes no sense because of the way the Patriots do business. All the players and BB arent saying anything bad about him because they know how skilled he is and that its BBs plan to bring him back in 2011? Are you serious man?

Randy became a liability because he wasnt a team player, I am not denying that. What I am saying is that his attitudes have completely changed 180 degrees in Minnesota and is ready to come back to the Pats a changed player, putting the team ahead of himself and doing whatever it takes to win a championship. While you and others may think he is an a-hole, the bottom line is all Moss wants to do is win now and I think that he finally has figured out what he has to do to make that happen

He finally figured out that he wants to win, one day after giving up on plays and throwing his coach under the bus. Not to mention treating the people around the team like $h!t and fracturing the locker room. What a winner.

He is a sinking ship. Time for everyone to let it go.

He may handle things the wrong way a lot of the time, but I think he really is a good person and teammate when he is on a winning team. He knows a lot about the game and all his teammates on the Pats have said all positive things, even BB

I guess he fooled us week 1, if he isn't the same then we are in trouble, I am thinking it is the tough defenses of the first half.

Sources: Patriots were interested in Moss - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

Schefter reports that there was some interest in Moss from the Pats, but they weren't going to make a waiver claim like PFT reported at the beginning of this thread simply because there was no good reason to:

But the biggest reason the Patriots didn't put in a waiver claim on Moss was because they didn't have to. New England had the league's final waiver claim, No. 32. If Moss cleared waivers with the 31 teams in front of the Patriots, and New England declined to claim him, then Minnesota would have been obligated to pay its former wide receiver the balance of the $3.38 million due him.

New England then could have signed its former wide receiver for the veteran minimum or whatever price it deemed fair -- which Moss would have collected on top of what Minnesota owed him.

Schefter's pretty accurate, and if this is true, it'd indicate that perhaps BB wasn't fed up with Moss when he shipped him out.

I still have a hard time believing the Pats would trade him away only to bring him back... But I suppose we will find out in 3 weeks when Tennessee waives him and he clears waivers!
