A simple poll

I put Vollmer as it's time for Light to go.

Hopefully the Raiders start losing so that draft pick will result in an OT.

I wouldn't mind them getting one with the Raiders 1st round pick. Keep Vollmer at Right Tackle or have Vollmer play left tackle for a year if the Rookie needs time to develop.

I voted for a draftee ( Carolina pick ) Nate Solder.Any LT in free agency simply costs too much.

If you don't believe it's Light I feel Vollmer is the only choice. Obviously it's not Kaczur. Marcus McNeil is the only LT free agent worth taking a serious look at but he'll be franchised by SD and even if he wasn't for whatever reason he's going to want every last cent which means the Pats aren't likely to got after him. Which leads us to a draft choice. Why would you hand over the LT position to a rookie when you have an option who's already played there at a decent level? Right tackle is easier to fill and worst case you can use Kaczur there and draft a future RT.

There is a player who is available. He's a one of the best lineman in the league. Although he mainly played guard in his NFL career, His college position was Left Tackle.
His name is Logan Mankins.:bricks:

McNeil will not be hitting the free agent market.

Chargers left tackle Marcus McNeill(notes) has the long-term deal he sought all along.

McNeill agreed Wednesday to a five-year contract extension through 2015. It’s believed to be worth $48.5 million, with $24.5 million guaranteed.

Cut light and kaczur.....start vollmer and draft or FA another LT. I don't know if they would use a #1 on a LT unless he is Jake long caliber talent.

OL becoming the priority in future drafts. Will need a tackle, guard(at least 1 depending on how Connolly holds up), and center IMO. Glad we have 8 picks in the top 4 rounds.

As for the original question, definitely Vollmer for once I have to side with demise of Matt Light. I think it's his last year as a starter in this league.

Light is in his last year under contract. Kaczur will probably be kept for insurance in case nothing pans out at RT.

Volmer to LT Kacur to RT maybe

Right now the biggest issue we have are gaurds.

Dan needs to develop and Neal needs to be injury free.We have no Center backup behind Dan koppen.

with so many holes in the middle i am amazed that the tackles switching is being emphazied in this thread.

BB should grab at least one top Offensive linemen early in draft and possible two. With the holes on offense and defense, he will probably go with BPA at each pick or trade down if one doesn't grade out to his liking.

I am on the fence on this one.

My first thought is we'll need to focus on retooling the OL but how are we going to do it?

As critical as some have been about Light, people need to realize the interior maybe worse.

Will BB say screw it, Dante can coach them up and we'll part ways with Light, Mankins, Koppen and Neal ( getting rid of them for different reasons... Talent, age , injuries and to much money). And address these needs in free agency and he draft..

Or will bill just resign light and keep the vets and just draft the replacements and see how things shake out in training camp?

I think the later, BB likes continuity with that position

I voted Light.... But if it's not, that player is not on this roster... Moving Vollmer and putting Kazur is not a fix. People have a short memory if they think Kazur play is better than Lights

First, it is a little too early to be be worrying about the starting line up in 2011.

Second, I know people love to dump on Light, but other than last weekend he has had a pretty good season. He is still an above average LT.

Third, I am a little concerned that Vollmer has had a bit of a sophomore slump. Prior to last week, he has had more problems with blocking than Light. Unless he turns it around, I don't know if I trust him blocking Brady's blindside.

It remains to be seen, and largely depends on how Light and Vollmer finish out this season.

this is a big dillemma. i don't think vollmer is doing as well this year as last year, so I am hesitant about him. I would really like it if we used one of our 2 first rounders on some OL help.
