Patriots Brady Knew About Moss Trade, Was In Touch With Branch Last Week
By: Ian Logue

The Boston Globe reported this morning that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady apparently knew that the trade of Randy Moss was coming before it happened, and was reportedly in touch with Seattle Seahawks receiver Deion Branch about coming back to New England...

Hes the leader of the team, Im sure BB keeps him in the loop. Ordway was saying yesterday that they wouldnt have traded Moss if Brady was against it, not sure if I believe that but I do believe that Brady always knows whats going on.

brady's a player. as much BB has respect for brady this isnt like childress-favre where favre calls the shots. BB makes the call and everyone lives with it including brady...good or bad...just my 2 cents. ordway is just speculating this...

Remember earlier this season when Brady wanted to go on 4th down and was on the sideline showing BB that it was only a foot and we should go for it...we learned that BB told Brady to "sit the F down" in an interview later that week.......Yeah BB calls the shots!

At the end of the Jets game, they showed the two of them sitting on the bench not talking.

My guess is that if not verbalized, the consensus had been reached. Why else would be stop targeting Moss? If you wanted to keep Moss, you target him to show success.

I still contend that the reason this is not done is Mankins fits into this.

This is obvious now, and likely a good reason why Brady stopped targeting Moss...knowing that Moss would be gone, they need to start relying on the other receivers.

Agreed. That said, I'd like to think Brady's concerns would be part of the process in deciding what is best for the team. Not that he is consulted in any way, but that how it will affect him is considered.

Can you expand on this. Dale Arnold mentioned the other day that Mankins appears to be close to returning, this was after a BB interview. I missed most of the conversation and just caught the last part.

I think Moss either knew it or expected it based on the look I saw on his face as the game was ending.

Are the drama queens on this board going to characterize this foreknowledge as Brady betraying Moss?

"Et tu, Brute?"

Brady must be nuts or on-drugs. DBranch is no better than a 3rd-WR..

Why do you think Seattle wants him out?????

3rd-WR + 6million ====> out-the-door..

My guess is DBranch will get cut by Seattle. Then, Patriots pick him up for minimum-veteran-salary. Because nobody else will pick him up!

Who cares if DB didnt do well while in Seattle? Hell, how many players has this BB led Pats team had that were extremely important to our team, then become nobodies once they jumped ship?

How long have some of you been following this team? Ya, all we need is stars. Stars everywhere, All-Pro's stacked on this team is the only way we can win?! Please. Bring Branch back. He's a far better option than VJ or anyone else out there for that matter. :bricks:

when ur QB is the highest paid player in the league, then u let him know what your up to w/ the team, and especially w/ his wr's...

Brady may not have had the ability to OK this thing, but of course BB would tell him hes trading moss beforehand

Pats forfeit 2011 third-round pick for tampering.

If Brady called Branch and tried to convince him to come to NE in the middle of the season, isn't that tampering?

Just wondering.

I care far more about WHY Deion Branch didn;t do well in Seattle: he got hurt a bunch of times, and can't run anymore. Do you really want to bring back an overpaid WR who can't run? honestly, at this point Brandon Spikes is probably faster than Branch.

players can talk all they want to each other. its the front office that would have to get permission.

Nobody ever gets penalized for tampering but just watch Goodell suddenly have a problem with this...

Yes it is tampering but the NFL would have to prove that and they can't unless they eavesdropped on the conversation and wiretapped it, in which case they have committed a felony.
