Says for a person without a long term deal and 33 yrs old and with the uncertain CBA no team would give a 2nd round pick so third is just about what they could get.

We should have asked the Raiders what we could have gotten from them. Who knows, maybe Al would have given us a second round pick.

king says there is another minor thing in play here and he doesnt know waht it is but the pats may get some more out of this depending on moss production or something else

Hopefully it can conditionally become a 2nd rounder, since Moss is going to kill it in that offense

Bottom line is they didn't have to trade him, they could have maximized his production in a contract year then let him walk and get the 3rd anyway.

Prepare for 6-10

Moss is gonna kill this defense when the vikings visit foxboro. This move doesnt make sense at all.I would have given him the extension.U can basically pencil in the jets as division winners now.

It's likely that Moss talked to BB and asked for this trade. Favre has probably been filling his head up with crap for weeks now. BB decided it had to be done quickly so that Moss can at least help them in the division for one more game. And when is the last time a team's best player -killed- the Patriots under BB?

No worries, my friend. I hear this 3rd rounder is going straight to the Bengals for Maualuga.

As I have pointed out numerous times on this board in the last 24 hours, the best comp pick they could possibly have gotten is a fifth-round pick, in 2012. And that's a possibility; they don't automatically hand out comp picks for lost FAs.

That's most likely incorrect. Apparently the NFL has a rule that any vet with 10+ years in the league cannot earn more than a fifth-round comp pick.

Yes this is correct. If he had walked we would get nothing more than a 5th pick.

Just like Brandon Marshall was going to kill this D last week in Miami, how did that work out?

I know, in BB you trust, don't you Jack Bauer

If what's being reported is true, I don't think BB had many options in resolving this situation.

I'll tell you one thing: I'm very relieved BB didn't draft Maualuga. What a disappointment that guy's been.

Per king its not just a 3rd round pick for moss

NFL sources say the other piece to the Vikings-Pats trade is the Vikings gets NE's 7th-round pick in 2012 ... Ahh. Good job.

as per king on twitter

wtf ?

Some of u are still drinking the BB Kool-aid.In Bill we trust. This team didnt get better by trading Randy Moss. You dont have a young QB to thinking about the future.Thats the bottom line!

Absolutely. I believe it's the max for a 10-year veteran. I was initially upset at the thought of this trade, but over the past several hours I've accepted it and it's time to move on. We've got the better part of two weeks to prepare for Baltimore and I still seriously believe we can win that game easily.

This is no different than if we had lost Moss to an injury. There's still a lot of folks who can produce on this offense, so I am not as panicked as many seem to be.

Re: Per king its not just a 3rd round pick for moss

Did we go braindead when it comes to trading players and draft picks?

WTF is right. I don't criticize Patriots management that much, but this trade is just looking worse and worse. I hope I'm proven wrong, but I really don't like this trade at all.

Re: Peter King on WEEI

if one more person posts the false assertion that " we would have gotten a 3rd rounder anyway" I am seriously going to lose my freaking mind
