Patriots Player Departure Rumor: Moss to Vikings?

I can't wait for the ultimate Belichick book to come out in 20 years so we can find out what the hell happened here. Because this makes absolutely no sense to me. It smells like hot garbage and there MUST be more to it than any of us know. Right now it's just a big WTF.

This ******* sucks.

Re: Schefter: Pats will get a third-round pick for Moss

I'm going to place a 911 call to the Minnesota Police Department because the Vikings just raped the New England Patriots.

Re: Schefter: Pats will get a third-round pick for Moss

The opnly explanation here is that Moss has shot his way out of town behind the scenes. I for one will not be thanking the Moss Man in another thread. You are what everyone said you are Randy, and us Pats fans were dumb enough to defend you for years and cheer you on.

Re: Schefter: Pats will get a third-round pick for Moss

If a injured TE with 33 years like Gonzalez costs a 2nd to a young team, I understand that Moss costs a 3rd to a foreced-to-win team . Thats ridiculous .

Re: Schefter: Pats will get a third-round pick for Moss

again if nothing happens by the trade deadline , this is bad all around... this team which was a 10-6 team with moss.. This could be a 7-9 team but lets see what happens... I will take Moss the rest of this season than have another 3 rd pick that turns out to be johnathan whilhite

I personally think that the reports of a blowout at Foxboro yesterday between Moss and Belichick were true on top of some other things in the locker room with Randy not being happy with his role and the lack of a contract. That's the only thing that can make sense of pulling the trigger on a trade of the best WR on your team for a third round pick at this point.

Over the next 11-14 games?

That wouldn't make sense to me unless they paid no 12 every last dime in the bank

Re: Moss for a 3rd is illogical

Isn't it clear that the compensation is irrelevant?

You don't trade your star receiver in the middle of a season with a 3-1 because you're oh-so excited about draft picks. (Especially when you already have 2 firsts, 2 seconds and a team packed with youth.) You only do it because he's making himself a liability in ways that fans aren't privy to. Otherwise the move just doesn't make sense, regardless of what you get back.

That's assuming the Patriots keep whatever pick is shipped their way. Maybe they turn around and use it on an established WR like VJax.

Yeah, sure, they'll give him up for a three.

Re: Moss for a 3rd is illogical

Wake up.

Would BB do this if Brady wasn't in agreement?

Ever hear of addition by subtraction?

He's already been a distraction in front of cameras this year over his contract. What about behind closed doors? You don't know, but his history isn't promising.

Look at how many he has dropped already? Already more then 1/2 of last year. Moss wasn't going to get a deal here anyhow. How would you like him in the AFC? Esp the Jets or Fins. He's much safer over in GB with the riverboat gambler.

Anyone that thinks a team with a shot to go the SB is going to trade you a player of any consequence is dreaming.

I would have been happier if it was Moss and our worst 4th (if we have multiples) for GB's 2nd.

Yeah, sure, they'll give him up for a three.

A two and a three might be able to get it done. However, it's San Diego. They're going to want to bend us over the table for him. That's why I say *might*.

And the thing is that we may never know what really went down behind closed doors, so all the mediots are going to make it seem like Belichick done lost his mind trading away a future HOFer when it was probably in the best interest of the team.

Wilhite was a4th.

Tate was a 3rd.

Just a little perspective there.

That being said, I'm not happy about a 3rd either. I doubt SD would give us Vincent Jackson for a 3rd.

Maybe. Whatever it is is pissing me off.

I don't ******* care. I bet Randy would have calmed down if given a nice extension. Pay the man and thrown him a couple of slants. The guy is fragile and amazing. Why couldn't they deal with it??? But hey, at least we signed Peppers and Mankins and Dansby and Boldin with all of the money we're saving, right? **** me.

I have to step away, I'm going to flip out. Too late. Meltdown.

People are gonna hate me for rehashing old stuff, but we should have never traded Deion Branch. Never. We should have paid that guy.

Like I said before, if I don't see VJackson or an impact D player come out of this, I'll... well, I'll do nothing, but I'll be really ******* pissed.

Sad but true............look at the body of evidence here -- no longer a captain, weird pressers and statements to the media, not playing up to par, dropping balls - including sure TD's, reports of his misery upon BB's high five to him monday night, "words" being said Tuesday - situation intenable.

Getting the "3" to move a malcontent is about as good as it gets.

Damn.........

Yeah, sure, they'll give him up for a three.

They wouldn't for only a 3rd but likely would for the Pats' 2nd and a 3rd from the Vikes (with Moss to the Vikes, of course). BB may be willing to do this, given that they already have Carolina's 2nd next year, which is going to be in the 33-37 range. I remember reading an article during the 2009 season that mentioned that the Pats love Jackson.

Yes, and we should have paid Seymour and signed Peppers, too.

But hey, it's only the prime of the best QB of all time that has been wasted here. Let's throw away his twilight years too.

Oh, I don't like this guy I'm becoming. Step away, Dave, step away...
