OT: Colts lose S Melvin Bullitt to IR

Most Colt fans want Polian's head, their recent 2nd round DT picks have sucked and they're even more furious they spend a 1st round pick on a back up RB. Polian's drafting hasn't been so hot lately.

Our playoff game with them could be for the last wild-card slot. I know there's a lot of football to be played. But, let's say the Jets and Texans win the divisions. The Pitt/Balt loser is going to have a good record. Could be us/Indy for that last wild-card slot. I'm not crowning the Jets or anything. But, they have been impressive the last 3 games. Now they get Revis, S.Holmes and C.Pace back.

I wish we had Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon..those were 2 great picks late in the draft,thats where Polian excels which is at the late draftees.

As much as we all may dislike Polian here, it's ridiculous for Colt fans to say he's done a poor job drafting. Nobody strikes gold with every single pick, and Polian/the Colts have been one of the top three teams, if not the best team in the NFL at drafting players for a long time.


On the other hand, I'm all too well aware of how fans of a team can and do overreact, especially after a loss.

I wish we had Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon..those were 2 great picks late in the draft,thats where Polian excels which is at the late draftees.

Peyton Manning makes it a lot easier to find WR gems late in the draft. Being able to find those guys late is what makes him wasting a 1st rounder on Anthony Gonzalez even more dumb, when Peyton Manning is the QB why would you waste a 1st rounder on a slot receiver?

Coltfan has a right to be mad at how Polian has drafted, his last few first rounders have been horrible. Gonzalez, Brown and Hughes are all backups, he shoulda been using those picks to build a defense that doesn't need to be up by 14 points to be productive.

I feel bad for Mr. Bullitt, and he has my sympathy. For the Colts, they can look between shyte and syphillis in the dictionary.

That's the oddity with Polian in recent years: great finds late in the draft, but terrible performance with high picks. Seriously terrible. As in "not a single impact player in the top 3 rounds of the draft since 2004" kind of terrible. Check it out:

Kelvin Hayden and Marlin Jackson were not horrible picks...in fact I believe Mr. Jackson intercepted Brady ending the Pats season in 2006 IIRC

It's not like Addai was a terrible pick either, he was a big reason as too why they won a superbowl... the problem in Indy is the declining O-line, not so much the backs...

Sucks for them. Hope Bullitt has a speedy recovery. I also can't wait to watch Brady torch that secondary. Hopefully, Manning doesn't return the favor.
