Belichick's secret weapon vs. Wildcat - Extra Points - Boston.com

Very interesting.

BTW congrats to Saban who absolutely pulverized the Gators tonight. I am sure Kontra is pretty unhappy about that.

Yeah, thanks for the reminder. But what are you going to do? We lost a lot of talented guys on both sides of the ball and John Brantley is no Tim Tebow. We are currently rebuilding and Alabama is the most solid, complete team on both sides of the ball in the country. I thought we would lose, but I didn't think we would get embarrassed again on national television. However, we keep getting top notch recruiting classes and it won't be long before we're back. Trey Burton is one hell of an athlete and is our future at quarterback. He's mobile, can move a pile, and has a cannon for an arm. However, he's a true freshman.

Nobody is stopping Alabama this year. They can only stop themselves and I don't see that happening. I'm hard pressed to find any holes on their team on either offense or defense. They have solid options in the passing game, a smart and accurate quarterback, a two headed monster at RB, and one of the best receivers in the country. On defense, they're young... but very talented. On top of that, they have one of the best coaches in the game. One thing that I was surprised about tonight was how much one-gapping they were doing. Saban's defense is typically a two-gapping defense, but I didn't see any of that tonight. Maybe an Alabama fan can fill us in on whether or not that was just a specific gameplan for the Gators.

But anyway, I won't go off topic anymore. This was really a great read. Thanks for posting it.

Was all excited about an Xs and Os article on the Wildcat defense, but I guess a coaching geneology tidbit is the most I could reasonably expect from the Globe.

Always nice to get a little more of the back story. Thanks for the link. I'll follow a Globe link from here, but I won't visit their site otherwise.

I wanted some X's and O's too, but you know Belichick and Saban aren't giving that information away for free.

Nice article, I just got home from work and was watching the first quarter of the Alabama, Florida game on DVR, and figured I would read a few threads, guess i picked the wrong one :bricks:

Sorry about that- I'll avoid leaking results in the future.

Likewise- pure football discussion is so rare on their site. It's mostly rancor these days.

I know, and that's a shame. I just never expected the sports page to be run as an opinion page. Sigh.

This board more than ever before is driven by media members writing gossip crap.

I was at the Miami game here last year ... and it was fun watching them try to run the wildcat with their super weapon rolleyes Pat White ... it was fun watching how all the gaps close up so fast.

After the way Saban screwed the Dolphins, I'm sure their fans will be ecstatic when they find out Saban also helped the Patriots figure out how to defend the wildcat after he left.
