The Jets suck (merged)

This thread will never get old....it just keep getting bumped up which is totally cool with me. I think we need some more Bills fans to make fun of but hey there are just not that many who are intelligent enough to use the Internet.

We need to bring it bills and dolphins fans to join in the "jets suck" Revloution.

Hi.

How is everyone?

...That is all.

I'm going to post a fact that means nothing but will infuriate all you Patriots fans:

Mark Sanchez has a higher playoff QB rating than Tom Brady (92.7 to 85.5)

So THERE!

But in all seriousness....how is everyone doing?

Plus the Dolphins and Bills have both have sustained periods of excellence. The Jets have two seasons, and haven't really been relevant since the 1960's.

Bills have sustained periods of excellence?

Most of the1960s and most of the 1990s for the Bills. That's it. Mediocre in the 80s and 00s and mediocre to terrible in the 70s. They haven't made the Super Bowl in 16 years, haven't won a championship in 44 years- while they have not been there since Broadway Joe, at least the Jets can claim over them that they have won a more recent title(albeit by three years later than them).

The Dolphins? Up and down their whole existence. For every year they make the playoffs they missed a year. They haven't been to the Super Bowl in 25 years and haven't won in 36 years. Last time they went to the AFC Championship Game most of their players were in elementary school.

Wonderful.

Watching Belichick's re-building coming together rapidly. It looks like the pass rush is solved; the pass catching is much deeper, and the the new young Defense is coming into focus. Seymour 's mini-hole has been patched and the secondary is solidifying rapidly.

Looking forward to a 14-2 season. How about you?

Sometimes you have to give credit where it's due. The Bills and Dolphins have both had periods of excellence. Claiming otherwise doesn't make that untrue, and it doesn't do us credit as fans.

I'm doing pretty good.

How you doing son?

When do Green Beans single-game tickets go on sale? Anyone know? I'm assuming there will be plenty due to Woody's PSL boondoggle.

..............and the Patriots have a MUCH higher playoff team rating than the Jets. Go ahead and do the math if you want. so THERE!

But other than that I'm doing great. Thanks for asking.

I may have missed this, or am plain ignorant, but how has this been solved?

You'll have to Wait and see. I will say that it won't be hard for the Pats to surpass the #1 Defense in the league with their awesome all-out blitzing, that made such an all-time record for QB sacks, last season. Despite the Patriots playing a conservative Read & React, Bend but Don't Break, and inherently sound Defense.

Not denying they were excellent when they were on their highs nor going to bash them when they were down on their lows...but neither had what you said- sustained excellence.

They had excellence...but sustained? That is one thing they haven't been able to do for long. They have been one thing in their years- consistently inconsistent.

They are decent teams that deserve the utmost respect as they usually play tough, but they also are as likely to have a crappy year as they are to have a playoff year.

I dont think you could be more wriong.
The Dolphins alltime record is the 2nd highest winning percentage among
NFL franchises, exactly .001 behind the highest and they are one of only 3 frnachises to have made the playoffs in more than 50% of their seasons.
What is your criteria?

To be fair, they've both been bad enough for long enough that it's hard to remember the success that they had. The Dolphins in particular, though, do have a lot of history, although almost all of it happened 25+ years ago.

I don't deny any of that...but I was going season by to season. They string together a few great years then have a couple of losing or .500 or barely above average years then intermingle making the playoffs and missing out. They haven't been able to string together a run of longer than five years without falling off for a couple of years before going back up. Happened after their run in the early 70s and happened after their run in the early 80s and is happening now after their run in the late 90s.

Nobody can deny them amassing a large number of wins making them one of the best overall winning franchises...

Patriots since 2001:
11-5
9-7
14-2
14-2
12-6
12-4
16-0
11-5
10-6

107-37 (.743)

Dolphins from 1970-1985:

10-4
10-3
14-0
12-2
11-3
10-4
6-8
10-4
11-5
10-6
8-8
11-4
7-2
12-4
14-2
12-4

That's 16 seasons. 1 losing season and 1 .500 season. An overall record of 168-63 (.727) during that stretch, which is not far off of the pace New England is currently setting. In fact, if you were to just toss in the 2000 Patriots season, to encompass all of the Belichick era, the Patriots percentage would fall below that of the Dolphins.

As for your "5 years without falling off for a couple of years", that's simply not correct, as the records show. Maybe it's the 14 game seasons that threw you off.

Now, the Bills were a little bit more uneven. From 1988-1999:

12-4
9-7
13-3
13-3
11-5
12-4
7-9
10-6
10-6
6-10
10-6
11-5

124-68 (.646)

However, Buffalo managed to go to FOUR STRAIGHT SUPER BOWLS. That's sustained excellence that's not been matched in the Super Bowl era.

Cherry picked the time period when then were very good...but what happened after that run?

Oh yes, a string of four consecutive non-playoff seasons each either .500 or below. After that? Make it in '90, out in '91. Make it in '92, out in '93. Make it in '94 and '95, out in '96. Run starts in '97 ends in '01. They '02-'07, make it in '08, then out again '09. Off and on since that run in '85

So once that run up to '85 ended they were out of the playoffs ten years and watching the playoffs 14 years.

What did Buffalo do in the 20 years between the demise of their '60s powerhouse and the rise of their '90s powerhouse? Three playoff years and 10 losing seasons. What have they done since then? They missed the playoffs 10 consecutive seasons with only one of those seasons getting above .500

Efin, there is a significant different between teams that are currently having a bad run and a franchise that is the laughing stock of the league. The Dolphins and Bills are currently having their problems. The Jets just suck. I mean, what other franchise would take so much pride out of a season where they don't even win their division? Are they going to hang up a banner commemorating their divisional round playoff win? Probably.

Here is the difference. Do you remember a time period when the Jets didn't suck? Yeah neither do I.

Of course I picked the time period when they were very good. If I'm talking about periods of excellence, it doesn't make much sense to go looking for 1-15.

Again, the Bills and Dolphins have had those periods of excellence. Claiming otherwise doesn't make that untrue, and it doesn't do us credit as fans.
