Re: UDFA news thread

As said earlier this Pat Paschall guy is a very interesting UDFA pick up and might have a shot at a roster spot if he is any good. I don't know anything about him other than what I've read but even playing in an FCS school I like these rushing numbers.

207 att. 1397 yds 6.7 ypc 16 td.

Other details

Height 6'0" Weight 209

Combine 40 yd dash: 4.69 Short Shuttle: 4.33 Bench Press: 15 Vertical Jump: 38.5 Broad Jump: 9'10" Short Shuttle: 4.33 60 Yard Shuttle: 11.39

Pro day: 40 yd dash: 4.57, 4.59 Short Shuttle: 4.15 Broad Jump: 9'10"

He scored 25 on the wonderlic too.

This piece from "Draft Guys" regarding his work at the East-West Shrine:

Paschall is great in open space, but really looked good between the tackles today. He stayed low when going through the hole, and would wait until he was in the second level before bouncing it outside. He sees the field well, and had a great cutback run that would have been at least a 40-yard touchdown. The West squad was using him effectively on outside pitch plays, but he was also grinding out tough yards inside. He would keep his feet moving after contact, and has a great stutter step before changing direction. Paschall doesn’t lose much speed when changing direction, and had a spin move he used inside the hole at the line of scrimmage to gain 4-yards on what should have been a loss of two yards. – Draft Guys (01.20.10)

Re: UDFA Bryan Anderson - 6'5 WR from CMU

I give this kid as good chance at making the roster as 3rd round picks Taylor Price and Brandon Tate.
As a third round pick rookie, Taylor is basically a lock to make the team. The only third round pick I can ever recall not making a team is Maurice Clarrette, and he was a horrible reach and a weird contract(no signing bonus, just a big salary) that Shannahan could cut him with costing the Broncos anything.

Then you know of where I am coming from.

I don't have a clue

I think he has zero chance to make the team but a very good chance to make the practice squad.

Moss
Welker
Holt
Edelman
Tate
Price

That's the 6 I see and as teams often have 5 WR I would expect that group even if Welker is PUPed (which I do not expect).

Not really. This response confuses me even more. If a thrid round pick is a near lock to make the team, an UDFA ... are you saying Anderson is a lock to make the team?

Moss
Edelman
Price
Tate
Anderson

no Holt?
or 6 WRs?
What happens if WW is activated week 9?

Well, I have no late-round draft binky like in the past (Cassel, PK Sam, Edelman, Patrick Cobbs, Oscar Lua). I was going to go with the UFDA RB from ND State with the computer-software name, but I'll peek at Anderson.

Disclaimer; I was over-joyed when the Pats drafted Edelman. He was the guy I wanted late. Because he ran so well in the open field and was a QB, I thought he would be the perfect wildcat guy. So I was right for the wrong reason. Not sure if it still counts...

Let' see what he does in camp first...

If you don't have a clue, then you have no grounds to say he has zero chances to make the team.

Re: UDFA Bryan Anderson - 6'5 WR from CMU

In general terms, no it isn't. But to run a 4.58 at 6'5", to me that's great. Tall guys are supposed to be slower relative to shorter guys.

The Tom Brady theorem :confused2:

I meant I have no clue where Box is coming from. If you want to be a prick and pick on my wording, so be it. Who do you think he beats out ?

I think (and would bet heavy money) that Welker starts the year on PUP, which opens up a slot for BA to be the #6 WR (assuming he can contribute on ST). Also, Tate is coming off an injury, we have no idea how healthy he will be. For all we know both he & Welker could be PUP'd.

It's early, and there are a ton of variables, but even as the WR situation currently stands, I think BA has a realistic chance (15%?) to make the opening day roster.

That's possible and they may prefer to release and PS Anderson mid season when everyone's rosters are full as opposed to in preseason - assuming Anderson impresses, of course.

I still expect Welker to be on the 53 for Week 1 but maybe not play until after the bye, Week 5. I have nothing to go by for that, though, other than the fact that his rehab seems to be, at least, on track and other WR, admittedly with different styles, have made it back in this time.

He has zero percent change of making this team?? Give the guy a chance before making such a statement. Just because he went un-drafted doesn't mean he wont make the team. There is a long list of UDFA that come to mind:
Leigh Bodden, Adam Vinatieri, Wes Welker, Rod Smith, Kurt Warner, Priest Holmes, Antonio Gates..... Lets see what this guy can do in camp before writing him off. I remember last year reading about Edelman and so many people on this board said he wouldn't even make the team. Funny he beat out Galloway. BB signed him for a reason, not just to tease him with a roster spot. If anyone is to give UDFA a chance, it would be BB. Good luck to all this years draftee's and to a great season.

I am just saying, if you have "no clue" as you said, then why are you saying he has "zero chances" to make the team?

Why would you use up a valuable roster spot for 5-6 weeks on a guy who physically can't play? That' doesn'tmake any sense.

I misspoke, I shouldn't have said zero. But I think he has a very small chance, barring injury. The numbers just aren't working for him. That said, most cuts make it to the PS, very few are claimed on waivers, and we have a real good shot to keep him if we want to.
