Patriots Player Departure Reiss: Adalius Thomas released

Was it possibly Adalius Thomas that Ellis Hobbs was refering to when he implied some Pats players were faking injuries/malingering?

This is a great day, finally. Go join the Jets loser.

Wants Springs is released, the cancer is gone and we have a young, fun lockeroom with Big Vince the leader.

Would you care to share where you heard that Springs is a cancer? Would you also care to share why BB hasn't cut im yet if he is?

Agreed. patsinthesnow's post is the first I've ever heard of Springs being a cancer.

There were rumors that his benching was due to attitude more than talent, etc.

I don't recall much in the way of confirmation.

I'd have to think that if attitude was a consistent problem then Springs wouldn't have seen more playing time toward the end of the year. Of course I could be wrong, though.

Well its over and done now. AD is off and the Patriots move on to hopefully much better things.

I was hoping that maybe he would get his feet back on the ground, make apologies and get back to his best but unfortunately that didn't happen.

I just hope he keeps his mouth shut now though, I've nothing against the guy but if he goes spilling his guts to the media now I will have a problem with that.

I highly doubt that AD will keep his mouth shut. I'm positive he'll take a shot at the Pats after he signs the same way he did with the Ravens after he signed here.

JET-SON! You're fired!!

I thought I remembered that when Adalius was telling reporters to talk to BB instead of him in the locker room,Springs came by during this time and said something of the way to stand behind Thomas with a snide remark.

Re: AD is out! Thomas released today.

Here's my official reaction:

F***!!!

Not because I wanted him here, but because I didn't want an a-hole like him to win. He won, he gets to go wherever *cough* Jets *cough* he wants now.

Oh well, example number 10,000,000,000,000 of the bad guy winning the day. The good guys are still at 14.

NovaScotiaPatsFan Adalius Thomas hasn't won a thing. He's been released from his tenure with the New England Patriots. There's plenty of water to go under the bridge with Thomas and whatever happens.

The reality is the production and attitude didn't match the contract. It was the only course of action for the Patriots and I'm thankful for his best effort in SB42. The rest not so much.

I'm really not concerned if the Jets sign him. Mark Sanchez is still their Quarter Back and teams have had a year to see how Rex Ryan adapts his schemes as a head coach.

I have to say I was delighted when he was signed.
One of the biggest free agency signings in Patriots history.
He just seemed perfectly suited - versatile, productive, great character.
Then each year was a little worse than the year before.
Really a shame.

I really wanted us to send him to somewhere where he can have massive loosing seasons.. Cleavland or something. Now i can see him going to jets or ravens... Not a fan of his at all but still thought we could control his fate/get some compo from him

Maybe the Patriots should have drafted a top OLB pass rusher to replace him...

They drafted an OLB who should be better that AD was... His name is Cunningham... He can't be any worse.

Yeah, but PJ's hands were covered in chicken schmaltz - - I would've bypassed the shake for the bump too.

Ha, you know me all too well!

Look, AD didn't punch me or anything (because you know, I'd be dead if he did), but it was by far the least pleasant experience I've ever had meeting a Patriot. That + the moaning and SMY'ing + poor play = grade A d-bag.

By the way, I've been following the cap closely since 2003.
This is currently the lowest total salary allocated to the OLB position since at least 2002. That's a LONG time in NFL salary escalation terms. Total Pats cap then was about $75mm.
