Five Needs Met

What about Aiken and/or Slater? Are they roster casualties or are they off the roster before the final cut?

Good question. It's probably going to come down to how many of the 'main' players can play special teams.

Deus, you think we need to draft a fullback? WHY?

After getting Holt and Price, I am happy to say "I don't care"

Question: In your opinion, does Branch stay in Seattle to mentor Tate, or does Tate's arrival mean Branch will soon be a free man?

We went into the draft with 22, 44, 47 and 53 (four picks)

We ended up with 5 players plus a 2nd rounder next year.
============================================

CB McCourty we got our corner in time
TE Grankowski a stud
ILB Spikes our best pick
OLB Cunningham my question mark but bb had all the info he needed
WR Price a fine prospect

ONE DISAPPOINTMENT
No defensive end

Very well said:rocker:

Got Brady some young toys highlighted by a TE

Got some LBers

got a Corner

and added a pick 2 moro and next year awsome 2 days BB is the mastermind

the guy basically got your 2 next year for dropping 11 spots in the 2nd

I think we saw the problems with not having one last year. I have no idea whether or not Belichick will pull the trigger on one, but having a hammer at the position would clearly have come in handy in the red zone.

Devin McCourty, good value pick a KR/nickle back

Rob Gronkowski, is going to be one of tom brady, top targets in the red zone good pick.

Jermaine Cunningham, im not sure he will be the pass rusher we wanted but he will be a good football player.

Brandon Spikes, this kid is a baller. and IMO the best pick by the pats

Taylor Price, will add good dept at WR and maybe turn into a good #3 in a few years

if they can add some dept at DE and a punter on day 3 that would be great. so far i give the pats a B-

I am very pleased with the outcome of today. Some glaring needs were met with what appear to be excellent value picks whilst adding a second rounder for next year.

It amazes me the other teams continue to allow Bill Belichick to abuse them come draft day the way he does.

This team is in a rebuild and I am excited for what the future holds.

I'd like to buy you a beer.
After we get a DE and or RB tomorow, this will be a nice draft.

No need! We can sit down at the pub and enjoy those beers together whilst quietly enjoying the job the Patriots have done so far.

This defense could be scary in a year or so. Let's hope the offense gets worked out.

Slater maybe stays as a safety?
Aiken might be very expendable now since McCourty is supposedly one of the top ST'ers in the draft.

I don't see all that competition

Moss
Holt
Edelman
Tate
Price

emergency #6 Patten
PUP Welker

Note who is not on that list --- Aiken and Stanbach. Aiken should not be in the regular offensive sets except in extreme emergencies, and the WR corps all of a sudden is made up of actual wide receivers instead of STers posing as WRs.

Now that CB isn't being viewed in isolation, it's a much more reasonable pick.

DE -
ILB - Check
OLB - Check
TE - Check
CB - Check
WR - Check
OG - pending
FB - pending?

The biggest overlook is the DE position, and I'm concerned that the team may be going the wing and prayer route there, but it looks like a very solid second and third round job augmenting that first round choice.

I'm thinking that the Pats have a move in mind for either Ellis or Henderson. Hopefully the latter. Now that we have two second round picks next season, we can use one to secure Henderson, a guy who would be a beast in our system as a DE. This is a very solid draft all in all, though.

I'm very happy with it. They've addressed most of the major issues. Whether they've solved the problems is something only time can tell, of course, but they've at least put in the draft 'effort'. Unfortunately, the elephant in the room (DE) is still there, and I don't expect that to be fixed with a "day 2" draft pick.

However, if I may be a bit greedy, I'd like another OLB, a quality pulling guard prospect, and a hammer of a fullback.

The team was apparently on the phone with Griffen today so that's where they may be going. I think we're going to be waiting until next year until we see a guard taken. I'm good with a FB but we also need a punter as well.

Griffen phone call rumor was squashed- it never happened.

They signed the Aussie for punting. I've got no problem with them drafting someone on top of that, obviously.

Or DID it!? Regardless, if this team wants to make a move for another OLB in this draft, he's the top prospect. I like Cunningham myself, though.

He better be a decent prospect otherwise I'll stone him myself.

ONE REALIZATION
We are moving to a 4-3

In reality there are still plenty of DEs on the board: Arthur Jones, Geno Atkins, Vince Oghobaase for starters

We still have an opportunity to get a top player in the 4th, before we start thinking of punters, quarterbacks and likely Practice Squad players.

We also have an opportunity to trade a future pick for a player. Of course, thatneedn't happen this weekend.
