We went into the draft with 22, 44, 47 and 53 (four picks)

We ended up with 5 players plus a 2nd rounder next year.
============================================

CB McCourty we got our corner in time
TE Grankowski a stud
ILB Spikes our best pick
OLB Cunningham my question mark but bb had all the info he needed
WR Price a fine prospect
=============================

ONE DISAPPOINTMENT
No defensive end

Still early...they have plenty of time to trade for or get a DE tomorrow

Don't know much about Price but the Big Ten isn't known for speed. I doubt he will be higher than the 4th WR. But I will gladly eat my words if he turns out ok.

He is not from the Big Ten and he ran a 4.40 at the combine.

He runs a 4.44

Wrong Ohio...he's out of the MAC

I am very pleased with the outcome of today. Some glaring needs were met with what appear to be excellent value picks whilst adding a second rounder for next year.

It amazes me the other teams continue to allow Bill Belichick to abuse them come draft day the way he does.

This team is in a rebuild and I am excited for what the future holds.

Maybe BB is waiting for that Oakland pick next year to find our long term DE. This year will probably be like last year with Wright and co. filling in

The word in chat was that he has a bunch of potential but is a little raw and needs to learn to block. As far as third rounders go, that works for me.

Here is his Overview:

Price has rare speed for a bigger receiver and has garnered a lot of attention as his senior season progressed. He is explosive off the line and breaks down the cushion on defenders before they know it. He can avoid the press and shows the ability to get in and out of his breaks with the kind of burst that separates from even the best of cover corners. He makes acrobatic catches and looks very comfortable when reaching out to pluck the ball away from his body. He still needs some work on setting defenders up and selling fakes, but there is a lot to work with on this guy, and some team is apt to take him earlier than the public expects.

My only real issues with this draft:

No long term replacement for WR. Price may be good, Tate may be good, but they need to figure out who fills #81's shoes after this year.

Also, nothing done on the Oline. Two guys have one year left, Koppen just isn't that good, and Neal is probably done after this year. They really could have stood to pick an OL at some point.

Other than that, very good. Love the Spikes and Gronk picks especially.

I feel dumb...saw Ohio on the screen and assumed Ohio State.

Looks like there will be some decent competition for the WR spots on our team.

Now that CB isn't being viewed in isolation, it's a much more reasonable pick.

DE -
ILB - Check
OLB - Check
TE - Check
CB - Check
WR - Check
OG - pending
FB - pending?

The biggest overlook is the DE position, and I'm concerned that the team may be going the wing and prayer route there, but it looks like a very solid second and third round job augmenting that first round choice.

I don't see all that competition

Moss
Holt
Edelman
Tate
Price

emergency #6 Patten
PUP Welker

David Patten had best impress someone in training camp/exhibition games, because I think his chances just completely evaporated.

Question: In your opinion, does Branch stay in Seattle to mentor Tate, or does Tate's arrival mean Branch will soon be a free man?

The NFL really doesn't allow the luxury of predicatably filling future needs. The roster sizes are too small, the injuries too unpredicable, and free agency makes it impossible to keep your veterans. It's a fool's errand to chase the next Randy Moss in the draft. Ask the Lions. When Randy Moss is gone, you just carry on and hope to improve your team in other areas.

As far as O-line goes, I suspect there are several guys stashed in the Pats practice squad O-line academy. Who know? Maybe even the next Russ Hochstein!

What about Aiken and/or Slater? Are they roster casualties or are they off the roster before the final cut?
