A couple years ago we were dissapointed that Rey M. didnt come out and we ended up with Mayo instead. Last year he dropped into the 2nd round and look at the improvement in Cincy's defense! They went undefeated in their division with both Pit & Baltimore! I'd say we could do worse than these 2 guys, but we can do better.
to be fair i think rey would have dropped either way, nature of the ILB position in the draft

Spikes will be a Patriot next weekend
Does anyone really feel that Ted Johnson ran sub 5 for 3/4 of his career?? For our SILB we need a thumper like this kid....not in the first two rounds though but in the third I would take a shot on the guy.

I think his 40 time is going to really hurt his draft status.
He is more versatile than people think, he played as a DE on the edge during passing downs. He could basically play all of the Pats LB positions but would be great match with Mayo for first and second downs.
If somehow they get a early third round pick he would great value.
He is also a winner and brings some bravado to the defense.
I do not think Spikes gets drafted. (ie: Kai Parham from a few years ago)
As for Mays, I think it proves how good Cushings, Mathews, Malauaga and the other USC defenders were that they could make Mays look good back there.
It also proves that the more pressure on the QB the better the DB's look. Hint Hint to BB!!!!!
Are those the same Cushing, Matthews and Maualuga that were not worthy nfl starters a year ago?
Yes, he was a reach. The Pats had to take him at #10 because "supposedly" the Lions were going to take him at #17. As much as I wanted the Pats to improve their LB's, there wasn't anybody worthy of taking at the #10 spot. But I will admit, I wanted the Pats to take Vernon Gholston if he slid to #7 with Clady in a close 2nd.Being that way, do you think Mayo was a reach at #10?
