Re: Dolphins trade Ginn to 49ers

It's too bad SF doesn't have another WR named "Tonic"

Re: Dolphins trade Ginn to 49ers

5th is great value for Ginn IMO. If the pats had a 5th, I would have wanted them to trade it for him. They would go from nothing at KR to a real threat. He's probably a better WR then Aiken as well.

Re: Dolphins trade Ginn to 49ers

Wrecks Blubbergutz is sure happy to see Ginn leave the division

Re: Dolphins trade Ginn to 49ers

I agree that SF got a steal for a 5th. It must be a salary issue.

Even after what we have seen with Devin Hester and Josh Cribbs; it's probable that the NFL still doesn't adequately value return guys.

Also, the 9th pick thing is done and gone. He has certainly performed better than a 2007 5th rounder. SF would be smart to use as return guy and occasional stretch the field/ bubble screen touches.

I bet he is. For some reason, Ginn had the Jets' (and to a lesser extent, Revis') number.

Re: Per WEEI: T Ginn Jr to 49ers

Well Ginn isn't any more of a bust than the guy everybody in the world thought the Dolphins should have taken in Brady Quinn. Everybody thought Miami made a bad move by not only choosing Ginn but not taking Quinn.

Ted Ginn can't catch a cold, but i have a hard time believing the player Miami gets with that 5th round pick will be of any more value. I will keep an eye on this one just because there are so many Dolphins fans who feel this is a great move. They are grossly overrating a 5th round draft choice.

Probably because they're old enough to remember Jim Kiick. Of course that was back in the day when players like Herschel Walker came out of that round...

More recently it's included meh guys like Rodney Harrison and Robert Mathis...

The current generation of dolphin fans reminds me a lot of charger fans...

Re: Dolphins trade Ginn to 49ers

Seems like it was a good trade for both teams. Miami at least got something in return for a player they were most likely going to end up cutting. SF got a player with more upside than they could reasonably expect to find in the 5th, who if nothing else they can pencil in for returns.

Regarding Ginn's contract, he's signed through 2011 plus a voidable year in 2012.
2010: $1,035,833
2011: $1,393,750
2012: $1,801,667

Ted Ginn Jr.

Re: Per WEEI: T Ginn Jr to 49ers

The ironic thing with Ginn is that two of the biggest top 10 pick busts in recent years were drafted in the AFC East in subsequent years. Ted Ginn Jr. in 2007 and then Vernon Gholston in 2008. Both may be out of the AFC East by the start of the season. And both will get next to nothing in return.
wait a minute. i thought the pats were terrible drafters and the pats FO should learn from the ever-improving Jets and Dolphins.

Seriously, Ginn sounds a little like our own Bethel, though apparently Bethel had more production.

This is pretty ridiculous. There hasn't been that I know of that has said the Pats need to draft like the Dolphins and the Jets. Actually, most (including myself) are happy with the Pats drafts... especially last year. However, there are those of us who believe that the Pats should have been more aggressive in securing a free agent or a trade for someone at a position of need, like the Jets and Dolphins did this year. Grow up, man. Stating that you like the Jets and Dolphins trades for them this offseason is in no way throwing the Pats front office under the bus.

Quit while you're behind, Kon. You and your gloomy homies complain about everything. Check out how many of your boyfriends complain about the 2007 draft when we traded for Moss/Welker.

Kon's Clan SOP:

Moan and whine what the Pats are doing.

If their methods change, moan and complain for what they used to do.

I challenge you to present proof of this. Please quote my posts where I complained about the 2007 draft. Hell, I'll make it easier for you. Please quote my posts where I complained about ANY draft. I guess when you can present actual facts or evidence to support your claim, petty and pathetic personal attacks always work, right? Still angry that I toasted you a few months back, eh? You shouldn't hold grudges, pfip. It isn't healthy.

So SF got only Ted Ginn? What about the rest of the family members Cameron drafted?

I am hoping the mother and second cousin are both available...I would give up a 6th and three of our 7th's for them.

Re: Dolphins trade Ginn to 49ers

This weakens Miami's return game, which is fine with me.

That said, I totally understand why my dolphin fan father is thrilled. He's dropped his last key pass for them.

Re: Per WEEI: T Ginn Jr to 49ers

Good move by the 49ers it was obvious he was going somewhere..

You really need to be more careful when you throw accusations. Kontra has responded to you but I'll back him up. I read a lot of stuff on this board and Kontra is certainly not what you say he is.

Ted Ginn Jr.

For that cheap I'd be tempted to have a great return man ...

Me too actually. Ginn singlehandedly won a key divisional game for MIA last season @ NYJ, that itself is worth a 5th and that contract IMO.

Our return game stinks right now esp with Welker's status in doubt.

Re: Per WEEI: T Ginn Jr to 49ers

why so quick to throw the man who put football on the map in NE under the bus?

Because I'm Jerry Jones and I think Tuna is an egotistical blowhard? Seriously, I don't like Craig James or Pete Carroll either. What's your point?

Re: Per WEEI: T Ginn Jr to 49ers

Ginn = Holmes? Never thought I'd see them both get traded for a pick in the same round!
