If you aren't pessimistic you are not a true fan. Don't you dare look at the glass as half full you HOMERS!!! Jets rule.

I agree but at the same time I have to go with the momentum of the end of the season. Pats didn't just look bad in their last game they looked bad in november through the play off loss. The Jets D was great and arguably has gotten better.

I see our rise or fall this season falling squarely on the shoulders of a few guys who need to step up big time this year. Most notably Mayo and Meriweather.

Cromartie is an upgrade over Sheppard. I don't know if he's a huge one, but he is better, mostly because Sheppard flat-out kinda sucks.

I'm not sure he is a better player but he is certainly more gifted than Sheppard. In the Jets system, I think Cromartie has a chance to be a more productive player than Sheppard was.

This Jets offseason reminds me of 1999. That year, the Jets were coming off an AFC Championship loss to the Broncos. Parcells went after a few veterans (Steve Atwater, Eric Green among others) that were supposed to put them in position to win a Super Bowl.

Testaverde blew his achilles in the 1st game and the Jets didn't even make the playoffs.

Lesson is, it's way to early to make any predictions...

What are you basing this fact on.

Cromartie had 1 good season in 2007. By the time season starts that is 3 years ago.

In SD because of his bad play they gave him constant safety help. With safety help he was asked to do 1 think take the inside or outside leverage with safey having the other side. You will be shocked he could not do it. But you feel in ryan system he in tranform and take away both the inside and outside like a great CB.Even in 07 he had alot of safety help.

Five words. Bump and run man defense. They used him in a zone with a 5 yd WR cushion in SD. He doesn't even have to be good to be better then lito. He just has to play. Lito had glass hamstrings and was benched in the AFCCG

It should be clear that you were insulting a coach who took his team further than Belichick did, and banging on the players while doing so, and in doing so, actually made the Patriots look more pathetic than the Jets. Also, the word "remains" makes it pretty clear that you were also referring to the past. I'm not sure how you missed that (Unless you chose to).

Your bending over backwards to avoid being labeled a "homer" has reached a new, ridiculous extreme. Screw Jabba Wrecks, he hasn't proven a thing to me yet aside from upsetting San Diego on the road. You KNOW the Green Beans were HANDED the last two regular-season games. Otherwise they NEVER would've even made the post-season. Why don't you simply become a Jersey fan instead of being a neggy Nellie here on Patsfans?

that game means absolutely nothing right now.......

Sorry but I do think that game means something. All of last season means something. If it didn't, why are we worried about the Jets? How do we know they'll be any good?

If they were coming off an 0-16 season and made the same additions as they have this offseason, would you be worried about them?

Again, I didn't bring up that game to say:"Well, we beat them easily late last season so we'll do it again this year." My point was to say that the Jets, who took two road playoff wins into the AFC Championship, were not a great team all last season. The Patriots, who were a one-and-done, were not a terrible team all last season.

We've clearly got a lot to do to improve this team, and obviously the Pats aren't done. I just feel that there's an unwarranted panic of how we'll even compete with the mighty Jets.

It means exactly as much as the loss to the Ravens does right now.

The tendency among some fans to consider one playoff loss vs. two playoff wins to be evidence of Jets unarguable superiority going forward makes no sense, when the teams split their two meetings and the Patriots won the division title.

It's easy to forget that 31-14 score in Week 11 last season. We forget that Sanchez had 4 INTs to compliment his 8 completions against our TERRIBLE defense. We forget that the Pats offense put up 410 yards against the Jets VAUNTED defense.

You do realize that 31-14 score was due in no small part to Wes Welker, don't you? And that when we didn't have Welker, we lost to those same jesters, don't you? And that we won't have Welker until Thanksgiving, if then, don't you?

The Patriots as presently constructed will be lucky to be above .500 as long as Welker remains hors de combat. Bill absolutely Must deliver contributors with each & every one of his first 5 picks next week; otherwise they will, in the words of Gil Brandt, struggle just to make the POs.

So far, the Jets are managing their team as though 2010 will be last yr of the NFL as we know it. The Pats are managing as though they are preparing for 2012.

I definitly understand the impact of the Welker injury to this team. And I highly doubt Belichick goes into next season without any additions to the position.

That being said, when Welker missed that Week 2 game, his replacement was playing the second game of his life at WR and Brady was playing in only his second game in a over year against a blitz-happy defense. Would you expect the exact same results if the game was played later in the season?

I'm not going to pretend that Edelman will make us all forget about Wes. That's absolutely not going to happen. But I do feel much more confident in him being able to step up than I did when I saw Welker wouldn't play in that 1st Jets game.

As I've said all along throughtout the thread, we must make improvements. We will. We need someone to step up while Wes is gone. Hopefully someone does. The point was always that, with our without Wes, we aren't a train wreck of a football team, and at the same time, the 72 Dolphins shouldn't be panicking because of the Jets just yet.

Perhaps a fortune teller advised Jabba Wrecks that he'll suffer a heart attack next year.

Its beyond obvious this team is planning on contending for a championship, but not this season, they are building this team to be competitive for the next part of the decade, thus a few lean years could be possible...to me the playoffs is not a foregone conclusion this year.

If the Colts don't throw in the towel in Week 16, it's possible the Jets lose their 8th game of the season and don't make the playoffs. If Kevin Faulk doesn't bobble the catch against the Colts, we're 11-5.
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas.

Sorry, had to go there. Nice post tho, could have used more topless women on motorcycles (classic Futurama quote -Ed.)

Hey. What kind of party is this? There's no booze and only one hooker.

Fair points. Brady - Edelman should've hooked-up for 2 TDs (instead of 2 FGs) in that loss: Brady missed a wide-open Edelman, and Edelman dropped a TD pass. I also have every confidence that those 2 plays will now result in TDs. Unfortunately, Edelman will now being seeing much tighter coverage than he did in that first game, too.
