Better fit for the Pats at RB - Jonathan Dwyer or Charles Scott?

Scott is a N/S runner and a bruiser. No dancing at the line.

Hope BB grabs best avail RB at pick #53. DE/OLB-TE-WR first 3 picks in that order. :singing:

What if all the good DE/OLBs have gone, or all the good TEs have gone? What if Dez Bryant is on the board at 22? You can't restrict yourself like that, you have to be flexible and take the right player at the right time.

That's why I'm not picking and we pay BB the big bucks

There's always the exception, ala Wilfork dropping into Pats lap at #21 a few years ago......

Excluding QBs and players whom I have some questions about, I came up with 24 players with projected first round grades whom I think NE might be willing to draft at #22. If all the DE/OLB and TEs are gone by #22, someone will be there who can make the team better. FYI, Bryant wasn't on the list I made.

Where's the list?

Make your own, I got to 24, some team out there reportedly has 40, I'm sure your list will reduce the worry lines furrowing your brow. :snob:

I don't know a lot about all these draftees, but I see us looking for the proverbial bowling ball guy that softens up defenses.

Even though it still hasn't panned out over the course of an entire season, I feel that yet again BB envisions (hopes for) a big role for Maroney in the offense this year (undisputed #1), and that if Maroney continues to give it all he has, and continues to be coachable and a good team guy, BB will try to sign him to an extension after this year at the right price.

So I think RBs that are bruisers and will compliment Maroney might be more attractive to us than the Spiller/McCluster types.

I just have this weird hunch that BB still really likes what Maroney is capable of bringing to the table. Sometimes you just have to be [really] patient with guys.

I want Best or Gerhart with a 2nd round pick. Ben Tate would be cool too. IDK, not a big Dwyer fan.

How many RBs are on your list of 24? Spiller? Mathews?

Tate or Hardesty is my vote. I've been railing for Tate for a few months now though. Needless to say I'll be following him wherever he goes. I see no need to take a back in the 2nd when a very comparable back can be had for a trade down in the 3rd. I would love to see Ben Tate in the flying Elvis. If we trade into the mid-late 3rd 9heck, maybe even the early 4th? seems he's getting no love after being touted as a 3rd/4th and having a very good combine showing, maybe everyone else knows something I don't. Wasn't he top 5 in 40/20shuttle/3cone/vert/broad? Set school records at a good RB school in Auburn and was largely overshadowed by his Alabama counterpart. From what i cared to watch (no i don't sift through online vids but make my guesses from watching games, hate Kindle btw but well see), he seemed to be a solid, one cut, up the field runner. Never seen him run out of bounds one yard short of the sticks on third (I hope your unemployed next year florence Mafumble, if not I hope you have a faulk-esque turn around and learn how to hold the damn ball).

Bad year for RB's. Spiller at 22 might be value, Best at 47 would be value if his medicals check out. Outside of those two, I'd look at backs in the 5th round or later to come in and compete: maybe Anthony Dixon or Charles Scott is still on the board, James Starks, Javarris James. I like McCluster as a multi purpose guy, but I don't think he's an RB in the Pats system, would have to play out of the slot.

I like most things about Tate as well, but he put the rock on the turf a bunch last season. Do you really see BB drafting a butterfingers RB?

Mr. Dancing Legs in 2006,Mr. Butterfingers in 2010,sounds about right

If Pats do draft a RB....who gets the axe? Already have 5 on roster.

One of the 2 geriatrics is my guess....<not Faulk>

I'd cut BJGE. I like Sammy Morris but we used him terribly last year, if we don't use him in situations where the opponent isn't loading up against the run then there's just no point having him on the roster.

Whats the use of saving a spot for 2 old guys that can't stay on the field?

BOTH of them were injured for quite a bit of 2009. A youngster needs to be added to learn the ropes. One old timer is plenty.....

BJGE is a fav of BB....he must be doing something right.

BJGE has some potential I think. We should use him a little bit more. He had a game in 2008 where he had over 100 yards rushing so I know he can do it. He only rushed the ball like 25 times in 2009.
