According to him on CSN Sports Tonight.

Crumpler: Sniff it!
Ram: God damn.

Recent experience is we have not utilised a te very often in passing routes, so his 22 catches and top notch blocking will be fine and lets us focus our attention elsewhere. He did block for a 2000 yard rusher last season.

Agree, as far as blocking TE's go, we're not going to find anything better.
At the very least he helps keep Brady upright, and opens some holes for our running game.

He is a good blocker.
He is a good locker-room presence.
Why not sign him ?
What will his price be ?

It does seem like a good fit. I have to imagine the hold up is either money or years. If there was a health or weight concern, I doubt they'd still be interested.

That lucky dog in the middle; he's sniffing and getting sniffed, too.

As for Algae Crumpler - I think this is the way that Bill should go. Then he can use one of the 7th-rounders on another TE, and sign Scott Sicko as a UDFA; just please don't waste another of our 1st/2nds on this under-utilized position.

I really can't see any reason why we wouldn't make this signing. Guy is still an excellent blocker and can get open on the short routes. Why not?

I am convinced that they will have a vet TE in before the draft.

Sign the beast.

I like the idea of LJ Smith, he signed a one year deal with Baltimore last year for 1.5m and has not been resigned.

Maybe we could get him for cheaper.

He actually needs one before the draft. Bill has traditionally filled most holes before the draft so that he has maximum leverage and options to play the draft as it unfolds. This year we have a hole on the DL/OLB ... so he's slightly behind the 8-ball this time around.

Yes, that is the way Belichick operates. I expect us to sign two tight ends, at least one additional wide receiver, and a passrusher/DE before the draft.

Crumpler obviously has a weight problem. Maybe he was 40 ponds over weight when he came in and the Patriots told him lose 20 lbs. and we'll talk in a month. Let's see some commitment.

That's because he's made of glass.
