Re: Stephen Neal re-signed

One of the announcers on Tv said a while ago he beat Brock Lesnar in high school wrestling.

Even better, he beat Lesnar in college.

Not a huge fan of the Neal signing, honestly. Not bad, but we can't count on him to stay healthy by a long shot, so I was kinda hoping we'd move on entirely. As long as the depth behind him is improved substantially, though, I'm okay with this.

Re: Stephen Neal re-signed

Watch it, bud, it's Cal State Bakersfield (CSUB), not UCB

And, no, the wrestling program is still intact :

Wrestling - News - GoRunners.com—Official Web Site of the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners

LOL, I is ignorant. CSUB!

Glad that wrestling is still there. I wonder what I was thinking about. Oh well.

I've probably watched that Neal-Lesnar match about 50 times. Very defensive, but I love the controlling skill that Neal showed. He dominated.

Re: Stephen Neal re-signed

Its a two year deal per Reiss.

Re: Stephen Neal re-signed

Anyone have the details of the deal yet?

Damn not only is he a better football players then Lesnar(I remember his stint with the Vikings) but he is a better wrestler. All my friends says Lesnar is the best around no Neal is better.

Re: Stephen Neal re-signed

A two year is what I was thinking it would be.

Re: Stephen Neal re-signed

Great, we have our backup RG in tact, now let's draft a starter.

Neal was one of the best guards in the league last year.

Anyone that should take a step back into a secondary role is Matt Light.

Re: Stephen Neal re-signed

He makes huge difference in the offense when he is on the field.
Good news.
A two-year deal makes sense - and gives the Pats time to groom Ohrnberger or another late-round young player to move up.

Would be very cool if Bodden is re-signed as well.

Fail......

Re: Stephen Neal re-signed

another good-to-hear signing. too bad he can't seem to shake the injury bug. On the other hand, I'd say the line is more than all set for this year. Would probably still be a good idea to look for an OC/G type in the mid rounds to groom for down the road, and to give orenburger some competition. so who's the first out of towner we sign/trade for. a lot of you guys seem to feel Gocong would be a good fit. I don't know much about him, but from what I've been readin it sounds like a half decent idea.

Really ? Kind of strange how one of the best guards in the league wasn't even tendered by the team and not only was he not tendered, he was free to the league and guess why he's back........take a guess.......you got it.

NO ONE WANTED HIM ............. !

Imagine that, one team did want him, one coach wants him back, he loves seeing the right side of his OLine get abused, welcome back Stephen "On the Back Nine" Neal.

He was the one guy I hope walked.....Nope, leave it to BB to reup a guy like this. Pierre Woods is on the verge or a major 5 year deal, I can sense it.

I'm glad to see Neal back. When healthy, he is arguably our best offensive lineman. He is well worth being on the roster, even if he give us half a year of solid play. We now have six starters plus five guys competing fo the backup spots: Connolly, Ohrnberger, Wendell, LeVoir and Bussey. We may draft another developmental guard, or not.

Definitely the best drive blocker on the team.

That must be why Chad Jackson is still on the team... because no one wanted him. That's not a reason to sign anyone, so that is not why Neal was re-signed. If you don't think Neal is good (when healthy) then I don't know what you are watching.
