Yeah I think its pray for stupidity from the teams drafting in front of us. To me he is the one player in the draft that gives us everything we are looking for in an OLB. I know its bad business to get too attached to one player but it appears the kid is a rare bird.
Anything can happen, but at this point there are about a dozen players that I think have a very high likelihood of going before Dunlap:
- DT Ndamukong Suh
- DT Gerald McCoy
- DT Brian Price - I think he will rise quickly
- QB Casey Clausen - teams reach for QBs
- QB Sam Bradford - see above
- OT Russull Okung
- At least one (and possibly 2) other OT's out of Anthony Davis, Bruce Campbell and Brian Bulaga
- S Eric Berry
- CB Joe Haden
- DE Derrick Morgan
- ILB Rolando McClain
- WR Dez Bryant
At that point, there are another dozen or so players that I think could go anywhere from 13-24:
- DE Carlos Dunlap
- DE Jason Pierre-Paul
- DE Everson Griffen
- DE Brandon Graham
- DT Dan Williams
- The other 1-2 remaining OTs
- S Earl Thomas
- RB CJ Spiller
- OG Mike Iupati
- TE Jermaine Gresham
- S Taylor Mays (I still think someone will be stupid and take him top 25 based on his measurables)
That works out to roughly 2 QBs, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, 5 OLs, 4 DTs, 5 DEs, 1 LB, 3 Ss and 1 CB in the top 24 picks. Plus there's always a chance that one of the WRs (Damien Williams, Rejus Benn, Golden Tate or Demaryius Williams) or CBs (Donovan Warren or Kyle Wright, most likely) or a RB like Jahvid Best or Jonathan Dwyer could move into the top 25, or someone like Sergio Kindle, Jerry Hughes, Brandon Spikes or Chad Jones. A couple of kids like Kindle or Jones will post phenomenal numbers at the combine and shoot up boards.
Stupidity is our friend. Every year someone reaches for a Justin Harrell at 16, a Darius Heyward-Bey at 7, or an Aaron Maybin at 11. Hopefully it will happen at least once this year before we pick.
