Reiss: Lesson can be learned from Jets

If you people think Ryan is actually better than BB.....

The talent is an issue here. I'm sorry, but for those saying Adalius would start for the Jets..He has not done jack **** here. He had a good 07, a so-so 08 and his "great" 09. If that's a talented player, he's a waste of space. I'm so tired of hearing how good this absolute ghost on gameday is.

I'd say the players who would start for the Jets from us would be Merriweather, Warren, Wilfork and Bodden, that's it for this season. Clearly this team is not nearly as talented as they once were, and as noted above the Jet have went nuts the last 2 years compared to the Pats in pursuing free agents and acquiring talent. The years the Pats did the most to get better, they were succesful. All these years the team hasn't went to the superbowl, was because each of those seasons the team had a glaring mistake personel wise.

**** happens, and to put it bluntly if a Pats fan can believe it or not we haven't matched the talent the Jets have been building, simply put. We were a game better than them, they had Mark Sanchez we had Tom Brady. Imagine if they had Brady? Exactly.

This team doesn't need to become the Yankees, no. But when they have holes like they do now, we have to address them with suitable additions. I want a proven addition, a good rookie. Not a 4th round project, a FA whose cheap and "Could" be good. No,we need to go after proven FAs that we KNW will help this team, enough with the projects. we need a replacement for McGinest and Vrabel. That's not easy, but we need some real OLBs. I envy watching these dominant 3-4 OLBs or 4-3 DEs absolutely destroy offensive game plans.

I just couldn't see a Tom Brady led team with that kind of defense doing anything short of 14-2. I've been going on and on but clearly the issue since the aggressive 07 offseason, we've been weak in FA. Since our last solid draft 05, we've had 2 terrible drafts (08-06 People, remember we acquired some serious guns for our 07 picks, including Merriweather)
This team needs to continue the solid drafting from last season, be smart in FA and this team will do what it needs to do.

Irregardless of how Adalius has played in a Patriots uniform, if he was wearing a Jets uniform Rex Ryan would start him. I don't know how you can even debate that. Now you can argue that Rex Ryan couldn't get him to produce either, but the pure talent is on our roster. Our biggest concern was experience, cohesiveness and some scheming. Pees being up in the box I think was a last ditch effort, I just don't think it helps having your DC up there. Yes BB > Rex Ryan, of course.

Imagine. What the hell, how can you say their talent is better than ours because we have a HOF QB? Pick and choose the best player(s) from the pats and throw them on the Jets, yeah well that's not reality. Reality is that only 5 of the defensive starters on the Jets would start here.

We have some work to do, but we really aren't as far off as some people are making it out to be.

So the Jets backed into the playoffs and are in reality an 8 and 8 team.

Is there anyway the Jets could at this point change that perception?

Probably not, they didn't exactly "back" into the playoffs, but they were very fortunate to have a couple teams lay down for them. Even if they win it all, it doesn't change the fact that the last 2 games didn't pose a threat and they were 7-7 at the time.

Re: Reiss:Lesson can be learned from Jets

Just because Adalius doesn't like being here, doesn't mean he isn't very talented.
I agree. Adalius isn't very talented whether he wants to be here or not. The two have nothing to do with each other.

I can't disagree with anything you've said, except not winning the division for a while, as long as Brady is Brady (or 3/4 Brady as he was this year) and Belichick is still coaching this team, I would say we have at least an outside chance to win the Division again next year.

the problem is parcells is retooling and doing a good job of it in Miami. so you have the jets, phins and pats competing for the division title. it is no longer a gimme. while the jets and phins don't have a Tom Brady type QB, they have improved in all other positions on the field and have an edge over us in a number of areas. for example, they both have better running game. winning the division will be really tough...as tough as it has been since the late 90s.

the magic is just gone. teams like the patriots peak and then they go back to mediocrity. it's just the way it is. you can't win forever. look at the cowboys dynasty of the 90s...it took them 14 years just to win another playoff game. The 49ers STILL have not recovered after winning the super bowl in 94'. It took the steelers almost 30 years to win a title after their run in the 70s. The reality is it may take us 15-20 years just to win again. I don't like it but that's what history has shown so far.

I guess they could get on a plane and fly to San Diego and beat one of the hottest teams in football.

Well, that changed their perception everywhere else with the exception of this message board.

Win the superbowl. The Pats are still accused of getting a pass into the superbowl because of the tuck rule.

The Jets looked pretty stout in SD yesterday (not as stout as their coach, of course). I'd say the Colts will have their hands full next week and if the Jets get to the big dance, who knows?

Re: Reiss:Lesson can be learned from Jets

BB will never field a defense of his own with the same talent as jets. He was lucky to inherit parcells defense. He is overrated and should barred himself from draft days with his cheap tactics.

No question that the Jets caught some breaks just to eligible to be in the playoffs but IMO its pretty safe to say that with their two road wins and IF they win two more, they should be considered as worthy.

If Cinci smacked them 45-0, then IMO that would conclude that they were not worth it.

They are playing with a $20k marker that they don't need to pay back.

I thought I was rough on the guy's drafts. LOL. Banned in 3-2-1...

I have respect for the Jets and if they beat the Colts, I"ll have moreso.

I just think the Patriots are more talented and better in every aspect, no offense. I think Ryan even admitted BB is a better coach. If the Jets do win the SB, they'll have to have an asterisk by their name to indicate that although they won, they were still inferior to the NE Patriots.

Please have someone break your fingers so we don't have to read your worthless drivel anymore.

They could go back in time and not lose as often, and play as poorly, as they did during the regular season prior to the final two games.

The key to the Jets is Reavis. Put him on the corner for the Pats and then everyone becomes much better. The D line and the other corner. Look at how Pittsburgh went from Champs to missing the playoffs without their safety. Hopefully, Butler is part of the answer.

It sucks, but I hear you.

Deus I know this Colts team is overrated, but can't you see this Jets team giving them fits on Sunday? I cry when I watch their defense now (and their offensive line).

Lets be honest. The Jets were down only 5 points when the Colts pulled there starters. The Colts probably would have won with their starters but it certainly not set in stone. As for the Bengals there would have beaten then even if there had played their best team.
There have a great defense, a great running game and their qb has played competently enough.

Sanchez doesn't turn the ball over, Jets have a shot. The Jets O-line, RBs and their D is/are playing with a tremendous amount of confidence right now.
