Oh My! Jason Cole's Gone and Done It!

Actually no.

The problem with the "doubters" is the inconsistent, clueless nature of the your arguements.

Our defense sucks...... OK.... well who exactly is "good"? San Diego? Indianapolis? Baltimore? New Orleans? Minnesota? The jets have the best raqnked defense. i guess we can't beat them.

Our offense sucks because Brady locks in on Moss and Welker.... except now all is lost because Brady no longer has his binky in Welker... which was causing the offense to suck in the first place and they didn't play "2004" offensive football but now they can't win because they have to go back to "2004" football.

If your going to critique, shock us with some insight. Stop meeting our expectations.

Why do you keep including "me", a Patsfan with over 8,000 posts, in your post? What defenses are good? Let's see: Pittsburgh (with Polamalu), Jets, Dallas, Philly, Washington, Green Bay, Minnesota, San Fran, and just about every other defense that can actually get to the quarterback consistently. The majority of the teams that I just named can do it with three or four guys. We can rarely do it with seven. And yes, it is a FACT that whenever someone says glowing things about the Pats, they are spot on and, whenever they don't, they are idiots. For examples of this, look at a Peter King article whenever it's posted. The same people that call him an idiot whenever he says negative things about the Pats say that he's spot on when he says glowing things about them. If you can't see this, I can't help you.

Well, I guess you might as well leave...

Sorry Ray Clay...I don't get it. What did I say that is not true based on their performance this year.

I root for them big time..but expectations this year are low

Ha ha, what a bunch of losers. (if it fits).

You realize two of our three championship teams also had no chance to win it all. One was a roster full of castoffs and a 7th round first year QB replacement for the franchise.

The other started 42 different players due to injuries, hated their coach and squeaked out half their wins due to luck.

Oh no, the yahoo writer says we're dead.Rotflmao.

I don't give a monkey's *** what he's written about us in the past, that was just a stupid piece. "For the time being........[the Pats aren't dangerous]" Huh? Care to elaborate on what you mean by "for the time being", Jason?

Jeez, just because he agrees with your pessimistic outlook and has said "nice things" about BB in the past doesn't mean he's not a dimwit.

I'm not pessimistic at all. Ask anyone you want on here and I don't think you can find a single regular that would call me a chicken little. Nor am I a homer though. This team, outside of the Jags game, has been playing mediocre football for the past month. Upon entering the playoffs, I am going by what I know about them. Now, of course that could change and I would love for it to change. But Cole's right. The team, as of right now, is mediocre. Hopefully the return of the starting O-Line will help that.

By the way, your post only proves my point. Maybe you didn't go so far as to call me a chicken little, but you definitely implied it. That's the problem on this forum. If someone says something negative about the Pats, they are a chicken little or an idiot. If someone says something positive about them, they are a homer. There's not really a grey area with the lot of posters on here, and that's disturbing to say the least. It speaks volumes about the attitude that people on the internet have. "AGREE WITH ME OR I CONDEMN YOU!"

If reading some crap convinces you your team has no chance, why bother? Beach Blanket Bingo is on another channel Sunday at one, you should check that out.

Hmmm 4-12 Redskins, 8-8 SF. Non playoff bound Steelers who collapsed more in the fourth quarter than a house of cards.

I like the collapse against Carolina/ Chicago Vikings and shredded By Minnesota and Pittsburgh Green Bay defenses.

The Jets have a great defense. This year they only collapsed against Jacksonville, Miami, Atlanta, Patroits, and Buffalo.

Thanks for making my point.

It's wide open SD included! This team is actually going to benefit from getting out of the 2X1 set..... Let's get TB under center and see what happens....

....and both of those teams OWNED November and December. Both those teams were playing like Secretariat on the homestretch at Belmont the last seven games of those two years.

You want comparisons?

Could be. All the defenses in the tournament can be exploited.

It's just amazing someone can come here, be pissed about the Pats defense for collasping in the second half; then claim the Jets have a great defense eventhough that defense also collapsed FIVE times in the same season.

Talk about ODing on stupid pills and then running here to post.

My kool-aid hangover is finally going away and honestly, my expectation is a 1st round win and a 2nd round exit. Considering everything the Pats have gone through since the Giants shat all over their '07 coronation of the GOAT I'm okay with it. The lumps and bruises the defense took this year will be something to draw from next year along with Brady still in his prime and one full year back from his injury and hopefully rediscovering his amazing ability to get the ball to the open receiver and turning nobody's into pro bowlers.

I will confirm this. Kon is one of the more sensible posters on this forum.

Hmmm 4-12 Redskins, 8-8 SF.

Two teams killed by their terrible offenses... unless you want to try to make an argument about why Alex Smith and Jason Campbell are good quarterbacks (or why Jim Zorn WAS a good coach).

Non playoff bound Steelers who collapsed more in the fourth quarter than a house of cards.

That's why I included one of the best safeties in the league, whom they were missing, when I mentioned them. Polamalu is the quarterback of their defense... their Brady if you will. His loss was HUGE. Otherwise, you're looking at a defense where most of the major parts of their Super Bowl run (led by their defense) are returning. They will be a force once again next season.

I like the collapse against Carolina/ Chicago Vikings and shredded By Minnesota and Pittsburgh Green Bay defenses.

Aye, so your criteria for a good defense is to go undefeated and be dominant in every game? I see. Well, bad news for you as there has only been one undefeated team in the history of this league and they were hardly dominant. Now, one almost went undefeated, but they were not dominant as well. They featured the greatest offense in the history of the league but were managed to be slowed down (sometimes to under 30 points) by other defenses.

No defense, outside of the Steel Curtain or the '85 Bears, is going to dominate in every game. Actually, now that I think of it, the '85 Bears (conisdered the greatest defense ever) got torched by Dan Marino and the Dolphins that year. So your criteria that a good defense should dominate in every game and go undefeated in the process is, well, it's a little off. By the way, that's not really a coherent thought either.

The Jets have a great defense. This year they only collapsed against Jacksonville, Miami, Atlanta, Patroits, and Buffalo.

Yeah, I guess Mark Sanchez throwing multiple interceptions in each game doesn't count, right? How about the two special teams returns for touchdowns against Miami? Against us, in our "big revenge game" (both for Week 2 and the last game against the Colts), the Jets defense all but shut us down in the second half. So much for that.

Come on, man. You had to know what you were walking into by try to make that point.

Thanks for making my point.

There was a point in this post?

EDIT: And I hope you don't think I'm trying to be an ass with this post, because I'm not. I'm just tired of hearing everyone say that there aren't good defenses in the NFL this season to try to make excuses for our defense. There have been good defenses. Defenses that faced elite offensive competition and did a much better job than our's did against the Indy's, New Orleans', and Houston's of the league.

Et tu Shmessy? We're in the farkin playoffs. We have one major injury, but a boatload of talent that could come together at the right time.

I don't understand this, i really don't. Why follow sports if you can't root for your team in the playoffs? Are y'all that spoiled and jaded that having a team in the playoffs isn't enough?

We're not buying hog belly futures here, it's sports. You root for your team if you're lucky enough to be one of the teams in the playoffs.

Sheeesh.

There isn't a person in this thread (outside of fans from other teams who are lurking) who is not rooting for the Pats. One can be critical of their team's chances in the postseason and their team as a whole and still be a fan. We're the ones who buy the tickets and the merchandise. We have that right.

Bull****. tThere are a number of "fans" who say the pats are dead, agreeing with a news article.

This time of year, there should only be talk of what we need to do to win. Imagine if BB said we're really not good enough this year, but we'll try anyway.

Crap.

If we play our game, we can win it all, that's the only reason to even show up next Sunday. I seriously would not watch a game of the playoffs if I didn't think we could win it all by playing well and getting some breaks.

Some of you guys could really use to follow a non playoff team for 5 years or so.

First, BB wouldn't say that because he's the coach. We're fans. That's the difference. Second, we've only sporadically played "our game" all year. Hopefully, we can find it in the playoffs.

And no, I don't need to follow a non-playoff team. I followed one through the late 90's and in 2000. I have since enjoyed our playoff teams. However, my wish as a fan is not to simply get to the playoffs. I'm not satisfied with that, nor should any fan be. I'm satisfied with a Super Bowl win. Given the kind of football that this team has played, it is not far fetched to say that this team probably won't win the Super Bowl. However, we are in the race and we have a chance. Hopefully they can turn it on. If they can, I think it's pretty safe to say that we'll all be happy.

You can't really argue with anything he says in this article.
Its pretty much the truth.

the defense is mediocre and inconsistent

Losing welker is a huge blow as the offense was so dependent on him

Brady has been inconsistent and has thrown some very un Brady like pics this year

Anyone picking them as realistic dogs to win the super bowl or even get to the super bowl is pretty much fooling themselves
Defensive pessimism. Look it up.

Then give up.

That's awe inspiring, puts chills down my spine.

You should give motivational speeches.

The good part is, when they lose you get a discount on the jerseys.

And you're a San Diego fan. lol

I bet you guys have no trouble getting up some enthusiasm for the playoffs.

Looks like we could use a Prozac I.V. around here.

Well, we can't win, but maybe we can win a game, but we aren't playing so good and we have an injury zzzz..........

Was it over when the germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!
