"Chris Henry -- a wide receiver on the Cincinnati Bengals -- has been seriously injured in a car accident in North Carolina earlier today.

Cops tell TMZ, Henry is suffering from "life threatening injuries."

Police believe Henry was involved in a "domestic situation" with his girlfriend. Cops say the girlfriend tried to leave her home in a pick-up truck -- when Chris ran after the truck and hopped into the bed.

Cops say , "At some point while [Henry's girlfriend] was driving, Mr. Henry came out of the back of the vehicle."

According to KYPost.com, Henry is believed to have suffered "severe head injuries."

Doesn't sound so good, hopefully he pulls through and the injuries aren't as severe as they initially seem.

A lot of reports and tweets saying he has died. Formal announcement coming when the family have all been notified. I hope it's not true.

A shame...I always liked him and hoped he would come here and get his life straightened out. At least half of that happened.

Just heard he is brain dead and on life support.....My sympathies to the family involved and just 1 week from Christmas

Had a bit of a Tiger Woods moment according to multiple sources including the Bengals official website, and several media outlets are now reporting he's died.

Really hope not.
