AD talks, says he called in advance that he would be late, watched film at home

No one is ignoring that other players made it in. But Every player doesn't come from the same area. Some areas have accidents. Some don't.

The reality is that no one here knows where in North Attleboro AD actually lives and how far from Gillette he is. He could have left 30 min earlier than normal, yet still had traffic that could have delayed him to be 9 minutes late..

I find it amazing that he did the responsible thing by calling in, yet people in here are STILL bashing on him.

BTW, as for the weathermen in New England, I haven't been gone that long where I've forgotten the saying "Wanna know what the weather is? Look outside. Wait 10 minutes, look again, and its probably changed." Also, not everyone watches the news or listens to radio broadcasts.

2 days after a meeting telling people to start arriving EARLY, now don't forget that.

If he planned to be EARLY on a normal day, he would leave early. If he planned to be EARLY on a snow day, he would leave EXTRA EARLY.

Also you can't grant one player immunity because they called and then send the other 3 home. You set the rule, you decide all late players today are going home and send them home. Otherwise it sets a precedent that a CALL gets you off the hook, and then other excuses start rolling etc...

Bottom line is AD was late, he was sent home, he should STFU. I don't even care if he did everything right and being late wasn't really his fault, still STFU

I left home for Boston from Providence at 6:15. I got there at 8:00. Traffic on 95 was a bit slow but there were no accidents. I passed by route 1 near Gillette around 7:00. Traffic on 95 was moving at around 30-35 mph with 2 lanes formed instead of 3.

AD could have hopped on route 152 which goes directly to route 1 ... he never had to get to the highway. I listened to 1030 AM all the way up. Traffic north of Boston was chaotic but south of Boston it was just moving slowly ... there was about 1" of snow on the ground at the time and no Ice as the temperature was mid 30's. I did not hear or see any major delays on 95, 495, route 24, route 152, route 123 or route 1.

For the record WBZ 1030 AM gives traffic on the 3's ... so you get traffic reports and weather like every 10 minutes. Anyone who commutes in the area should know this. These guys also all have the bells and whistles (GPS) which has traffic information also if you have the good ones.

thanks dude.....I believe there is a fair contingency here who are preprogrammed to automatically side with BB and the 'I trust in BB' mantra

BB's a great coach, but I believe his ego is working against him right now

See, I don't believe that BB's ego is working against him. I don't see it as him sending a message other than to saw, be on time. And it was a message that was sent evenly by BB focusing on new and old, alike. What we don't know is whether this has been a persistent problem all year and those 4 were just the unfortunate who met the wrath of BB's "I'm fed up with this tardiness sh!t." Remember, normally this is an internal thing that we don't hear about.

I think everything else is just the media blowing it out of proportion.

I don't care if he's on ESPN. On this bulletin board, he (or she) is simply spouting off opposite opinions of the majority here and defending them ad nauseum. That is the definition of a troll on a bulletin board.

First off, the definition of a TROLL is NOT "spouting off opposite opinions of the majority " and "defending them ad nauseum." That is the definition of an opinionated person, but not a troll. You may equate the two, but that is your problem, not mine. Tanked has defended his opinion with facts. Often that confuses the ill-informed and they think the person is trying to pass his opinion off as fact, when that isn't the case.

Secondly, I pointed out the reference to ESPN to tell you that I've known tanked for quite some time. And I clearly know that he's more knowledgable about football and brings more to the table than you give him credit for.

Look at the posts. Clearly, he is not interested in anything but stating his opinion as fact and contradicting all others. That is the modus operandi of a troll.

I've looked at his posts. What I see is ignorant people making assumptions about what's being said and immediately running to defend Belichick as if tanked is claiming Belichick is the Devil. And Tanked is doing no such thing. Tanked has the right to question the moves that Belichick made. And, its funny that there was an article in the Globe that also did that.

I have no problem with a debate and I like to read others' opinions. But to simply take an opposition side for the sake of argument? I have better things to do. This isn't Debate 101 class.

No, it's not a debate 101 class. So stop acting like it is. Tanked didn't take an opposition side for the sake of argument. That is you taking YOUR unfounded opinion and trying to pass it off as fact. Tanked hasn't liked BB's moves this past off-season. Anyone who was here during the off-season knows that tanked didn't like BB's moves then. And he tied AD's reaction to his own opinion very well. There was nothing sutle about it so I am not sure how you missed it.

Emoney - Please show me where I said that BB should grant AD special immunity? You can't so don't bother. What I pointed out is that the AD bashers are the ones who want to burn AD at the stake because he did the right thing.

No where have I criticized BB for what he did. As I stated in another message, we don't know if this has been a persistent problem for those 4 or for the team in general. As BB mentioned this sort of discipline is handled in house. Reiss mentioned that normally its just a fine and that it was unusual for this to happen, so it could be a problem that is more widespread than we, the fans, know it to be.

Last Saturday, I took my parents to DFW so they could fly back to Cali. When we went in, traffic on 121 and 114 was fine. It took me less than 8 minutes to drop them off and get back out (I know this because anything over 8 minutes is $2 for the tolls instead of the $1 I paid). On my way back out, 114 was backed up onto 121 and 121 was now a parking lot and backed up for the better part of 3 miles.

The moral? A lot can happen in 8 minutes..

Now, as I pointed out, no one here knows what it was like where AD was coming from except the same people who were on the same road. We don't know if he takes highways or the surface streets. I haven't really been in North Attleboro, but if the streets are primarily 2 lane roads (1 in each direction) then its quite possible that a small accident could snarl up a section for 15-20 minutes or longer or so. And you wouldn't hear about it on the news or traffic since they focus on the main highways.

Now, should the team still have punished AD even though he made the phone call? Yep. Should we, the fans, be claiming he's a POS or saying he's a detriment because he was late and didn't take his medicine? Nope. AD is entitled to his opinion. He answered the questions asked of him and, contrary to popular belief, he didn't throw BB under the bus nor did he disrespect BB. He said BB is the Head Coach. BB has his reasons for doing what he does. AD doesn't try and figure them out. He just goes with it. Yet, because of the negative outlook that a majority of fans have and that the mediots portray, AD is now the Devil.

Personally, I think that AD was going to ask to be let out of his contract at the end of the year. But, it could be that BB cuts him before AD has the chance.

Someone, Fauria maybe, said that Thomas and Ty Warren are neighbors.

So that ends that discussion for me.

So what? What does that have to do with ANYTHING in the post you replied to? Lets say they both normally leave at 7:30 and travel the same route to get into Gillette for their 8:00 meeting. The other day, Warren leaves 40 minutes early (at 6:50) and Thomas leaves 30 minutes early (7:00). Warren makes it in at 7:40 (taking him 30 min longer than normal just because of slow traffic). Thomas gets to the meeting room at 8:04 because, along the way, there was a traffic accident that had the two lane road shut down. BB punishes Thomas for being late, even though he called in because he punished Moss, Guyton, and Burgess as well. I'm fine with that.

Also, what did the player you heard mean by "They are neighbors"? Does it mean they live right next door to one another? Does it mean that they live down the street? Or that they live a half mile away? Depending on where you were raised, the definition can make a difference.

Fact is that people are lambasting AD for being late without knowing the whole story.

He did NOT do the right thing. He attempted to get a pass for doing the WRONG thing, and failed.

That's nice of Reiss to mention but as Bruschi noted:

Bill has done things like this before, it's just never been through the media. It's always been kept in house. And the message has always been well received by other teammates.

DB, come on! Enough with the hypotheticals. No one is saying AD is a scumbag for showing up 9 minutes late.

You are going wayyyy overboard to defend AD by bringing up POSSIBLE excuses. Once again, the only one in the wrong right now is AD for opening his fat trap.

And BTW, since he was told to come in EARLY. leaving 30 minutes early in a snow storm does NOT equate to doing the right thing.

I don't have a smoking gun. But I have enough circumstantial evidence to convict in my mind, all the stuff that's been discussed ad nauseum.

Anyone making excuses for him being late is just another excuse maker.
Everyone in the NE region KNEW that there was going to be snow, I'd bet $ that it was discussed as well, so for him to make excuses about it snowing like he didn't know is weak as f***.

Excuse maker, end of story.

Bruschi disagrees with you. He says if there is a 8 a.m. meeting, then you are there at 7 a.m. when the team is in a slump (e.g., losing 3 of 4).

Also when Brady, the team captain and leader has had no sleep the night before, because his baby son was born, yet did not see any special favor or waiver, and still came in on time (all the way from downtown Boston which is 3x the distance from N. Attleboro) there is just absolutely no excuse for AD. Just none.

I was indifferent to AD. Now it is borderline aversion for the dude

They are not EXCUSES. Jesus.. WTF is it with people dealing with reality and calling them excuses. Seriously. I hope every7 single one of you ******* get fired the next time you're late and it's not your fault. Because THAT is exactly what you are saying should happen to AD..

BTW, E-money, it was a hypothetical, not a certainteed fact. Reality is that traffic can go to a grinding halt in no time flat. And all you schmucks claiming that AD is acting like an ***** really need your friggin heads examined.

First off, I offered up a hypothetical. Not a written in stone FACT. Secondaly, I love Tedy, but he needs to shut his trap as much as AD does. He doesn't know the whole story.

Third, every situation is different. Not a single one of us knows what the situation was for AD.

Lastly, no where did AD say it wasn't HIS fault. All he said was that it was traffic and he called to let them know he would be late. People need to get a clue and stop making sh!t up about how AD is some kind of cancer because of it.

Was AD late? Yes. Did AD hit traffic? Yes. Do we know how long he sat in traffic? No. Do we know what route he took? No. Hell, we don't even know if he left when he did because he was taking care of his kids and getting them ready for school or waiting on a baby sitter. If he'd left his kids alone, people would be calling CPS on him and acting like he's the world's worst father or something.

I get absolutely frigging tired of the way so many fans are friggin holier than thou when it comes to their expectations from players.

I have news for all you "people". SH!T happens that you have no control over. It's not an excuse. It's a FACT of life. If some of you get a clue and realize this, you might live better lives.. They'll definitely be happier ones.
