AD talks, says he called in advance that he would be late, watched film at home

I think everyone including thomas figured going into this season that short of an all-pro season, that he will likely be cut after this season. The problem with thsi scenario is that even after this season, the Pats still owe him 8M guaranteed, so if you knew you were a dead man, would you take crap from your boss knowing you are set anyway?

Given the situation, coaching him up would have put the pats in the best situation given who else they have....not coaching him down.

If there is any message being portrayed now, it is that 'we are dysfunctional'.

yes it has been clear for some time that it was time for the Pats and AD to part ways, but why make things worse than they needed to be?

Re: AD:"They really don't give a damn"

I know, you'd almost think BB was making this move in a year after the Pats blew a huge lead and a Super Bowl appearance in a Conference Championship game because they couldn't cover a TE.

Screw 'em I say, what TE could ever hurt you anyway???

You're being extremely narrow minded.

AD can cover a TE and affect one aspect of the passing game. However, if he were to be used as a rusher (where he has been our best option since he got here), he could affect the entire passing game.

Re: AD:"They really don't give a damn"

Disagree. Adalius Thomas is openly and blatantly anti Bill Belichick. Not sure I have ever seen such an overpaid attitude problem wearing a Patriot uniform.

How about Ty Law claiming BB was a liar?

It doesn't appear as though this marriage can be saved, but a little less noise from AD would be a lot more professional than the childish "I didn't know it was going to snow" yammering he's doing now.

just take a moment and look at it from thomas' perspective.....how long ago did it become obvious he was gone after the season? couple that with him getting 8M as a lump sum the moment he is shown the door.

he doesn't need an excuse. he knows he's gone.....and he also knows he gets the same for 2010 if gets dumped than if he stays. he knows he has no chance to be the player it is going to take to be in order to earn the 2011 paycheck, so he has been given the window to cut his losses, take the 8M and a better chance to hook on with someone else in 2010. someone will pick him up for a decent paycheck

do all the math, it wasn't worth it for him to take crap from BB. doesn't say much for his character, but when has that ever stopped most players?

listen to yourself......go ahead and do it and be done with it

If someone offered Adalius 100 million dollars and a night with Beyonce to make it from his house to Gillette Stadium by a certain time do you think he would still make it? I think he would be there 4 hours early.

Therefore I don't think it's a question of having the Jetsons technology to make it somewhere on time if it's important enough to you.

Re: AD:"They really don't give a damn"

I guess you started being a fan after Branch was long gone.

He did say overpaid. Branch certainly was not overpaid during his stay in Foxboro.

according to WEEI...AD lives in north attelboro. they say its not very far from foxboro.

Very impressive that AD could watch film all day AND put his toes up in the air AND relax.

why would vince put himself out there? the organization is dragging its feet on extending him. if I was wilfork, I would be playing for wilfork until they extended me. extend me, and I would do all kinds of things for the team. but they're obvioulsy going to franchise him, so why should he sweat it any more than any other player? nothing for nothing

The team isn't dragging its feet on an extension. This is just garbage. The team doesn't have the Cap Space, currently, to extend him. Once the season is over and the cap is gone, that is another story.

Fact is that Vince rejected their previous offers and other people got extensions instead. The team only had so much Salary Cap space to work with. The Pats, currently, have less than 3 million in cap space to work with. They can't get an extension done for that.

Re: AD:"They really don't give a damn"

As he called, isn't it safe to assume he wasn't in a ditch ?

Actually, no. He could have been calling to let them know he was in a car accident or that he'd gone off the road into a ditch and would be late. Things like that happen when it snows in New England.

No offense, Bresna, but Tanked isn't a troll. I know him from ESPN and he's an extremely intelligent poster who brings a lot to conversations. Even when I have disagreed with him.

Instead of being a hater, think abot what Tanked is saying. If half the people in this thread did that instead of spouting off the normal player hatred/blame, people would actually learn something.

and you know this is the case how? what offer did he turn down? I just think they are leaning on their ability to tag him for next year. I think they are playing a similar card with an RFA tender to Mankins......I just think they are playing with 2 of their best players this way.

thanks dude.....I believe there is a fair contingency here who are preprogrammed to automatically side with BB and the 'I trust in BB' mantra

BB's a great coach, but I believe his ego is working against him right now

Yes, I mentioned that earlier in the thread.

Come to think of it, AD must be the one who told Shalise Manza. Her tone since the story broke has been to defend AD and overlooking facts such as all the other players were there.
AD is the snitch.

No one is ignoring that other players made it in. But Every player doesn't come from the same area. Some areas have accidents. Some don't.

The reality is that no one here knows where in North Attleboro AD actually lives and how far from Gillette he is. He could have left 30 min earlier than normal, yet still had traffic that could have delayed him to be 9 minutes late..

I find it amazing that he did the responsible thing by calling in, yet people in here are STILL bashing on him.

BTW, as for the weathermen in New England, I haven't been gone that long where I've forgotten the saying "Wanna know what the weather is? Look outside. Wait 10 minutes, look again, and its probably changed." Also, not everyone watches the news or listens to radio broadcasts.

I know this because it was talked about prior to the season. By Wilfork. He said they'd hadn't reached an agreement, but he was still hopeful. That tells me that they've had contract talks. And clearly both sides hadn't reached an agreement. Meaning that they had swapped contract proposals..

As for Mankins and Gostkowski, they could be relying on the RFA card. Or the players might have chosen to wait to see how the season played out, both in regards to the CBA and in regards to their own worth. Gostkowski is going to be amongst the highest paid kickers.. Which I am fine with. Mankins, I feel, has hurt his value. He's not been near the caliber of player he was the 1st 3 seasons of his career.

He's saying that BB should have handled it differently and given AD everything he ever wanted and been ever so nice to him just because AD has no financial incentives to try harder than he has to.

This is a load of crap. BB should not cater to any jacka** selfish it's-all-about-the-money player. EVER. He is contractually obligated to play for the pats this year, if it is all about the money for him and he doesn't want to actually play football and WIN and give his all to his teammates, then get the hell out of here.

I don't care if he's on ESPN. On this bulletin board, he (or she) is simply spouting off opposite opinions of the majority here and defending them ad nauseum. That is the definition of a troll on a bulletin board.

Look at the posts. Clearly, he is not interested in anything but stating his opinion as fact and contradicting all others. That is the modus operandi of a troll.

I have no problem with a debate and I like to read others' opinions. But to simply take an opposition side for the sake of argument? I have better things to do. This isn't Debate 101 class.
