One thing I've noticed about Saints fans here and on saintsreport is that they all think our defense is god awful and theirs are world beaters. I didn't think it was possible to get so smug so quickly.

Completely agree, they havent seen that we're 6th in the league in defense

I will say this - there is a great deal of respect in New Orleans for the New England Patriots. When you guys played here for the Superbowl everyone here was cheering for the Pats. I think the fact that you were playing the Rams had something to do with that. But, having watch ever Saints game this year it appears that they have YET to play on all cylinders. What I mean is...look at the first half of 4 out of our last 5 games and you will see that we gave up a tremendous amount of yards rushing, only to come back in the second half and totally dominate defensively. It almost seems that the coaching staff gives the opponent the opportunity to show EVERYTHING they have and come second half the opponent rarely makes the adjustments needed because no adjustments are obviously necessary - but we adjust and the results are normally unstoppable!!! It seems we are PLAYING/TOYING with our opponents.

Do you play for the team? Seriously, if this is your outlook towards the game on Monday I'd suggest a pair of 'reality glasses' so you can pay attention. My prediction is that this game will be a see-saw affair between two equally matched offenses. It will come down to last possesion and/or turnovers. From what I've seen, you guys say you respect the Pats, but are poorly underestimating them and the fact that OUR offense has yet to click on all cylinders for 4 straight quarters. With that being said, I'll take Tom Brady and y day of the week over Drew Brees.

My gosh, so personal. I don't want to argue - geez! Just harmless conversation between individuals who believe in there teams. No big deal - ultimately who gives a crap who wins, it won't cure world hunger or end the 2 wars we are fighting. Get a life. See the difference? I thought not.

I did not say PATs secondary would shut the Saints down. But they
will make it difficult. If you think your Saints will march down and score
on every possession then it is you who are the joke.
My guess is Saints will get a lot of short opportunities. They will need
to execute a bunch without error to keep their drives alive.

Do they forget that prior to 2006 they were always a team brought up in relocation talks? Do they forget that they never sold out a season before 2006? Do they forget that on gamedays priot to 06 you could literally get a ticket for 5 bucks from a scalper outside the superdome? Do they forget that the local Fox affiliate used to buy up remaining tickets so the games wouldnt get blacked out? freakin hypocrites.

What is the that method that yields 40 points against the
#6 defense in the league if they are healthy?

We hung 48 on the #1 ranked defense at the time we played them ( week 6 ) and who I believe still hold the #2 defense spot in total defense.

So if I had to guess, it would be that method.

That logic doesn't make sense unless you scored more than 40 points against every single lesser defense...

As you are a NE transplant, I will suceede you your vastly superior knowledge about the "goings on" related to Saints football. /sarcasmoff

But allow me to interject:
1. They were not a team "always" brought up in relocation talks- the heat came after 2005 and Katrina- and as a fan base that was reduced to 1/3 of its size, we stepped up. So we hold ourselves in a little higher regard when it comes to terms of "fandom".
2. Fox didnt buy up all the tickets- Hibernia Natl Bank did.
3. Sure we have had our seasons of bad, mediocre and good. But who hasnt?

By same logic , and a little more up to date, two weeks ago
Saints only scored 28 on the 29th ranked D and were only 32 yards
away form losing that game.
So facing a #6 D at this time of the year, Saints may not even get 24 points. Teams have lots of film on you guys and know what you do
by now. From here on out it gets tough! We know.
