Re: Peter King's mid-season All-Pro team.....
Deus has done a good job of arguing with you on the stats, so I'll be silent on that.
To me the bottom line between Peyton and Tommy is that we're talking about two exceptional quarterbacks: one has put up surreal regular season stats, has won a boatload of League MVP's and has gone to and won one Super Bowl; the other has put up great regular season stats but hasn't been as prolific a passer over his entire career as the other, has won (only) one League MVP, but has gone to four Super Bowls and has won three of them.
So, how do you choose between two of the greatest ever to play the game? This debate has been going on since Marino/Montana decades ago.
Even before the Brady/Manning debate, I always put Joe over Dan because NFL football is the ultimate team game, because the QB is the most important player on the field, and so the QB who takes his team to the championship more often gets the edge. So, I give the edge to Brady, but I'm hardly a disinterested observer.
But others see it differently and I really don't see the point in arguing about it. We're arguing about small differences between two players who will both be in Canton and who, between them, will have defined an entire era of the NFL's history. The Steelers have been great but Big Ben has never been viewed as the dominant guy that Brady and P. Manning both are. When people speak about this time in NFL history, they will call it the Brady/Manning era, much as Bradshaw and Staubach, Marino and Montana have defined other eras.
So, I guess I just don't know why you're making such a big deal out of trying to prove to us that Peyton is superior, unless, of course, you really are bothered by the fact that Brady is defined by those four trips to the big game, his three rings and his two SB MVP's and Peyton is primarily defined by his regular season performance.
MVP
Peyton Manning Colts
Drew Brees has a superb running game, Manning does not.
Don't you guys love my name?
