Bruschi's Retirement Marks the End of An Era

Bruschi's retirement and Vrabel's trade marks the end of the beginning of an era, the Belichik era continues with Bruschi & Vrabel proteges carrying the tradition forward. People will automaticially think of Mayo, some will include Guyton, but preseason results suggest Banta-Cain and Woods are spiritual heirs whose maturation looked promising. The transition is bridged by Adalius Thomas, who arrived with an impressive resume of his own, and seamlessly slotted into the 'no player is bigger than the team' approach. Adalius moving between OLB and ILB will buy Burgess the time to adjust to the NE 3-4 OLB role, while filling the 3rd down specialist assignment. Full Tilt, Full Time has not yet left the building, we just need to look for it to wear a new number.

Bruschi's retirement really chokes me up. I am glad he walks away with his health and dignity.

+1. He's been my favorite for a long time now. I pulled my well worn Bruschi Jersey out today. A couple of weeks early, but I had to wear it. I went to vote in a town election today and people at the polling place were talking to me about him. I had taken the motorcycle, and people were blowing their horns when they saw the Bruschi Jersey.

I'm still gonna wear that jersey to the games. Thanks again Tedy!

Did someone forget Tom Brady? Guy's still around so it isn't exactly over.

The point is that Bruschi is the last of that '96 team that started the organization toward a winning tradition, Troy Brown would be the other but obviously he retired. As for Bruschi, it's quite a story when you take into account that in his first season as a rookie they go to a Super Bowl, and then they go on to become the team of the decade just five or so years later and win three more.

But that's the end of that group. Now the discussion going forward will be that there now aren't many left from the 2001 year ie: Brady, Faulk, etc.
