Just how big is the Sea Bass?

It looks like heis trying to figure out how many of those helmets he is going to eat.

...then he realized those weren't New York Jets helmets.

I usually tune out during the offseason and barely pay attention during the preseason, so I knew Vollmer by name only and that he was "big". This is the first pic I've seen of him.

Good God, he's *huge*.

Regards,
Chris

He IS. Saw him up close Monday. There's a video on the net showing his pre-draft workout. What's amazing is that he is well built, has no OL gut and is agile as hell.

The "overdrafting" of Vollmer shows why drafting the best player for your scheme is so much more important than drafting guys being talked up by talking heads like Mel Diaper Jr. and Adam Shefless. I thank Robert Kraft for spending his dollars on real scouting as opposed to the NFL scouting dept.

Vollmer comes from a pass happy college that ran a zone blocking scheme and he excelled in that scheme. Add in the decent feet and above average size/height and he fits perfectly with the Pats.

As a second rounder he fits our scheme so much better than an Oher or a few of the other 1st round OT's.

True, I've read from PFW that he struggles in 1 on 1 blocking, but that his zone blocking skills are way up there. Once he rounds out his talents, all accounts seem to think he'll be very good.

Whats even scarier is that he is that height and weight and no belly.

Wes Welker (L) and the visiting Troy Palomalu (C) go to a renaissance fair with Sebastian Vollmer (R)

Any other questions?
