1st post love the site..Hate this to be first post as Im not thinking they need or will get Vick BUT!!> I find it very annoying that the media trip over themselves to debunk rumors more then even creating them..Isnt it possible Vick was in court in VA then took a 2 hour flight to Boston to meet with BB et al? I mean really? Idiots just say unequivocally no way i got the scoop he is in VA today...LOL...Classic. I heard a few reports now he was in town and 1 he was at Gillette.. I live in Foxboro think I will hit CBS Scene to see if hes there. I mean the track is no longer there so He would be ok here wouldnt he?..

When I was driving in the car to work this morning at 8:15 AM, EEI was talking about the story of Vick being sighted in the area. So given that is the timeline of the story unfolding, it seems pretty unlikely.

It seems like every Bostonian with the "Whiner Line" on speed dial has claimed to see Michael Vick frolicking in the metro area Friday.

Or they have a friend named Sully with a wicked good connection up in Foxborough who knows Vick is there.

But as Florio pointed out recently, Vick was actually in Virginia Friday for a bankruptcy hearing.

And if that doesn't convince you, our own Tom Curran says, "You can rule out that Michael Vick is in the building with the Patriots now. You can also rule out that he was there earlier in the day or that he will be there later."

Curran doesn't believe it will happen at a later date for two primary reasons:

1. He doesn't fit their system as a player.

2. He isn't good business for the Kraft family brand.

ESPN's Tim Graham also crosses the Patriots off Vick's possible go to list.

So while we appreciate the boost in Friday afternoon traffic these Vick rumors have provided, it looks like there is nothing to see here folks.

Sully can go back to focusing on trade deadline action in that other sport.

So Vick was both in Virginia and on the practice field in Foxboro. Maybe he can clone himself. Which makes me wonder, if Vick is signed by the Pats and he can in fact clone himself, will the Pats have to use a roster spot for each clone? Or is there a roster exemption for clones? Anyone know what the CBA has written for a scenario like this?

Barstool can be a guilty pleasure, but El Pres is an utter fool. Reading his blog he himself admits he's WRONG time after time on his rumor breaking stories. Batting avg is below .200. You really need to become more discriminating on what you accept as viable sources of information. Especially when there's evidence in direct contradiction that gets blithely ignored or rationalized.

Pete, i had been certain that the Myra factor ruled it out.

But you've shown how it does make sense!

I am beginning to believe these Vick rumors, and here's why.

One of Belichick's greatest strengths is adapting, whether to an opponents in-game adjuustments or to league-wide trends. Clearly, between the pre-draft interest in Pat White and the pick of Julian Edelman, Belichick wants in on this wildcat thing, even if his motivation is just to bring in a practice body to run the scout team.

Pieces could be falling into place for the Pats to bring in a guy who, potentially, could be the premier wildcat back in the entire league. Vick's not going to start in 2009, so it is in his best interests to join a team in which he can rehab his image and, just maybe, make a big splash. Is there a better spot to do than in New England? There's practically no market for Vick's services right now. Nearly 20 teams have flatly rejected the notion of signing him. He could be had for a year on a prove-it deal for a low, low price.

What would he realistically bring to New England. At worst, he's training camp competition and practice body that can be used to help prepare defenses for opposing wildcat schemes. At best, he's an elite backup and an offensive utility man that defensive coordinators will have no choice but to prepare for. In either case it's a strategic win for the Pats.

In reality, in a car from Virginia to Foxboro would be about 9 hours. On a plane it could take less than an hour from Virginia to Logan so it is possible, BUT if these rumors are true, then i will be really upset. Our offense is stacked enough we need DEFENSIVE HELP aka PASS RUSHING OLB!!
