John David Booty, QB - Minnesota Vikings
Matt Cassel, QB - Kansas City Chiefs
Matt Leinart, QB - Arizona Cardinals
Carson Palmer, QB - Cincinnati Bengals
Mark Sanchez, QB - New York Jets

The real question is who is better, Palmer or Cassel? The next few seasons will help us answer that question, but both are pretty good.

1) Palmer
2) Cassel
3) Leinart/Sanchez
99) Booty

Palmer is #1. He's got a bunch of really good years under his belt. Cassel could end up surpassing him, but he just doesn't have enough work to judge him on. Cassel is #2 though. Leinart hasn't done much in 3 years, I don't think Booty has played an NFL down, and Sanchez is a rookie.

As of right now, it is Palmer and it isn't even close. If injuries didn't hobble him, he would be nipping at the heels of Brady and Manning as one of the elite QBs in the NFL. Palmer before he got injured was better than Roethlisberger, Brees, Rivers, etc. Cassel hasn't gotten to that level yet.

Leinhart would be third since neither Sanchez or Booty have taken snaps in an NFL game yet. Sanchez has a chance to jump over Leinhart, but I doubt Booty will.

To tell the truth did USC ever have a great pro QB. For a college that has so many in the Pro Football HOF not one is a QB. The only good one I can think of is Pat Haden and he really wasn't that great.

Dumb question because of variables within the question

How can you select one of these when you have QBs with experience in the NFL and some without? :banned:

You also have QBs in here that never played a down at USC while others played part of full time there in their collegiate career.

Makes no sense to me when you are combining rookies in the NFL and QBs that have yet to start in the NFL with veterans who have .

As far as talent in throwing the football goes? - How can it be anyone else but Carson Palmer at this point?

Mark Sanchez is better than John David Booty.

Assuming that you mean "as an NFL QB," who the heck knows? a lot of folks said Ryan Leaf was going to be better than Peyton Manning. Sanchez and Booty could both be great or they could both be busts.

If it's lifetime achievement, Palmer. If I need someone to start for my team on the first weekend of the season : Cassel.

Booty ? His claim to fame is his name.

Heh, I thought that one was pretty much shooting fish in a barrel. Most anybody is better than Booty.

This is definitely a silly season thread as we wait for training camp to begin. We're asked to compare:

--a guy who was in the league for three years without taking more than a few dozen snaps and then played one (very good) season
--with another guy who's been in the league three years, put up some so-so numbers and then lost his job to a 40 year old
--with a guy who's been in the league five years, has put up a couple of very good seasons but has had injury problems
--with a guy who's been on an NFL roster for a year but has not taken a snap
--with a guy who just got drafted and hasn't even been to Training Camp.

Therefore, my answer is "Yes!"

Gee . . . I wonder who voted for Sanchez. . . .

I guess I really don't have a view on Booty and you might be right. But a lot of folks would have said similar things about Matt about this time last year. I'll withhold judgment.

The answer to this can only be answered when they have all retired.
