The Wildcat is a mix in type of scheme. You don't run the wildcat on 3and10. Say its a first down, and your going to run the ball, why not switch things up and run the wildcat? I'm not saying that we should use it 10 plays a game but every now and then why not mix it in on running downs? Nobody is saying take the ball our of TFB's hands but on running downs I am a proponent of mixing it in. I would run it more than six times a game.

I agree in a way, and I don't really care to see either Vick or P. Burress joining the team, because they both just seem like the type of people that stay stupid for life and I don't think this team really needs to worry about that sort of risk/reward ratio. However, Vick (assuming he still has his skills) could be extremely useful on the field if used as a "Slash" type of player. Imagine having both Brady and Vick in the backfield, in the shotgun, and a team having to figure out what the Patriots were going to do with the ball. Brady could pass. Vick could scramble. Vick could pass. Vick could go out in a pattern.

Now, imagine the defense dealing with that while defending against Moss, Galloway, Welker and Faulk/Watson/Maroney. Defensive Coordinators would be losing all sorts of sleep.

since when?

since when?

Since he was in pop Warner. I don't know why so many people think that
Vick is such a terrible passer, he was by no stretch a great QB but he is around Eli Manning in accuracy (Eli Manning has about 2.0 lead 53.8 for Vick to a 55.9 for Eli.) Eli also has a 1 point lead in QB rating. Vick is not a terrible passer but hes not great either. What makes Vick special is his ability to to both.

Vick regressed the last 2 years in the leauge, he was and is mediocre at best.. He has had 1 good memorable play in the time he played and that was that ot run vs the vikes.. That was it.. I just cant fathom why the leauge the media all wants a meidocre player back so bad.. I guess the return of the great Tom Brady, who Vick can only dream about being , is not enough for the nfl to be marketable.. And that is pretty sad..

From a purely football standpoint, Vick is no doubt still incredibly talented and could contribute in many ways. If the Patriots organization felt that the reward was worth the risk, I'd be all for giving him a chance.

Too much bad PR, too many distractions, the Pats would be hated even more than they are now. Speaking as a 16-year season ticket holder, I would let the Krafts know I'd be against it.

I would be right behind you

Who would want an overrated one man show QB that lose most of the games he plays and looks good at it?

Not me...

Vick's career NFL record is 38-28-1, despite Atlanta having some terrible teams.

What I don't understand is people saying Vick "made a mistake." A MISTAKE?! No -- he knowingly, deliberately, committed both a federal crime and a spiritual crime against nature.

I hope you're a vegetarian because if you eat any meat it's a spiritual crime against nature.

How do you feel about other cultures that doesn't feel the same way about dogs as we do?

Cultures that eat dogs because they feel dogs aren't any better than a chicken or a pig.

Do you believe cultures that eat dogs commits spiritual crimes against nature?

That being said killing dogs the way he did is wrong.

I'm not saying I want him on the Patriots and I'm not saying I don't.... But after two years in prison, if he gives an honest effort to be a better person, and shows himself a changed man, I would like to see some team, any team, give him a chance to play again....

Let thee without sin throw the first stone. Or whatever the hell the biblical quote is.......

I believe in giving people second chances so long as they live up to that second chance.....

I wanted to cut you some slack since it's your first post, but such nonsense deserves a reality check: What Vick did doesn't fall into any of the categories you mention. He tortured and murdered dogs for sport and pleasure. THAT, my newbie friend, is a spiritual crime against nature.

Ditto that. Redemption stories are always the best, imo.

That's the problem. Dog fighting is a terrible thing, but sometimes I wish people would get more up in arms about rape and murder.

Every crime has a penalty. After the penalty is paid, give the guy a chance.

I agree that it was a choice, not a mistake, but so is every crime.

Not every crime should carry a life sentence.

Worst is that the people who are the most compassionate and caring are the most vindictive. Where is the forgiveness and tolerance He talks about?

I've moved past Vick and the dog fighting. He served his sentence and will do his community service. He's not Charles Manson and should be atleast given some slack.
I'm assuming the animal lovers will never do this but this fan was just happy to see justice served. I'm satisfied that he went to prison and I'm glad a blind eye was not turned to an athlete again. Clean slate in my book.

Vick peaks my interest as a backup. Ofcourse not as the starter, but as someone who can come in and contribute to the Patriots right away. Can help the defense prepare for the wildcat, run the wildcat and also I think he would be a pretty good option as a wr-reverse-rb trick play type of player. Who knows, maybe more than that?

If the price is right and he is willing to start fresh I think New England would be a pretty good place to begin for the guy. It seems to be a atmosphere where people can come to and just focus on football, Belichick has been very good about how he handles the press. Th media would not be happy if Vick comes here. They would much rather prefer a place like Cincinatti or Oakland where they could eat him up.

Just my two cents.

I normally agree with such observations, but I think the Vick case is different. Why? Because it goes to his fundamental character and way of being, and has shown up elsewhere -- the marijuana "water bottle" in the airport incident, the scandal where he was charged by a woman who contracted herpes from him, etc. I'll never forget how he mailed it in during that cold night game in Chicago, where all he cared about was bundling up on the bench and the Falcons were shut out. I think he's a narcissist who lacks a conscience. He outright lied to the Falcons on numerous occasions and they want nothing to do with him. Neither should the Pats.

Ever watch Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom? That is exactly what animals do in real life. The problem is our current laws, it used to be legal to have these fights, don't allow them. He was dumb enough to break the law, and hence went to jail. If he is that dumb I don't really want him on the Patriots.

Everyone breaks the law. It's pretty much impossible not to.
