Replacement for Neal

George Bussey, another undersized offensive lineman. Sigh.

I am all for a replacement for Neal next year, but do they all have to be so tiny?!

Where do you get that these guys are tiny? Mankins is 6'4 and 1/8 and 310. Neal is s 6'4 and 305.

Bussey is 6'3 and 2/8ths and 305.

Ohrnberger is 6'2 and 297. Want to guess what size Koppen is? 6'2 and 296.

They are aren't the small fries that the Denver Broncos used, but they aren't the HOGS of the old Redskins. They are mobile players.. and that's what the Pats want.

Fair enough. I must have misread the height/weight numbers a bit. Thought they were slightly shorter and well under three hundred pounds. It's ironic I'm complaining about size, since I'm 5'8 in shoes and 175 pounds, but still tell all my friends (many of which are NFL-sized) that I'm a better football player than they are. Haha, I can't help myself.

Thanks for the correction.

Ohrnberger looks a solid 297. No empty calories or milk shakes on him. Tough customer who will turn heads at training camp.

Go, Patriots!

I don't know how much longer Steve Neal will be playing. Not much longer than a year or two, I think.

TJ Lang is a mauler whose priority is to play in the NFL ten years from now.

Why not if he's there in the third round.
First priority for a pats inerior lineman is pass blocking, not mauling. It isn't a bad thing if the guy is a road grader, just irrelevant. Can he pass block, can he pull? If he can't do those, he just doesn't fit no matter how muchof a mauler he is.

Pats got themselves a guard in round 4 i think.

As another poster noted, Ornberger was #80 on Gosselin's top 100 value board. Vollmer, our new OT was #76. I think that's pretty good for OL prospects, Round 3 quality on both.

I hope these guys can be developed fairly fast and Neal stays healthy. My only strict policy for Pats Oline is ABY. Anyone But Yates!

Yes, ALL PRO Guards like Mankins just grow on trees.

Sorry, but you can't replace guards that easily and its folly to think so. If what you said was true, the O-line wouldn't have stunk so badly last year with Yates and Hochstein trying to play in Neal's spot.

And no, They can't just slide Kaczur over. No matter how many people think that they can just do something.

No, they dont grow on trees but they now cost REAL BIG $$ against the cap! Our problem was that our OL depth should have been more of a concern last year. Hochstien is at his end and Yates I could never understand anyways. NO, I dont think Kaczur can slide over either. But looking at the OL that is signed for the long run....and knowing the importance of continuity......makes it critical to make several smaller changes instead of one massive one. I know the labor agreement is holding alot of things up, but we gotta get some new backups minimally. And FYI, Neal was a undrafted FA, and he has worked out fine. Dont give me any Mankins "Pro bowl" crap, after that Super Bowl he had to be embarrassed as hell to even show up!! He is no Huchinson.

Please explain how playing a year at LT makes you think that Kaczur will be effective at RG. BTW, I think that he started the season at LT that year, his rookie year, and did fine.

Why not? He played half a season when Light broke his leg, as a rookie, at LT, and was fine.

First off, they don't all cost "REAL BIG $$" against the cap. Secondly, the Pats have a lot of money next year to use against the cap to sign people. Third, You are the one who said "unless they can slide Kaczur over to guard." If you don't believe that they can do it, why mention it.

BTW, I know that Neal is the exception, not the rule. So, you throwing that out as if it means something is hilarious. Also, I didn't say that Mankins was "Pro Bowl." You really should do a better job of reading what is said. Also, everyone has a bad game now and then. Including Hutchinson. You'd know that if you'd ever actually watched Hutchinson play.

Please, for someone who spends so much time claiming to be a scientist, you do a horrible job with your research and using fact to base your opinions on.

WoW, lets see if I got enough bullets for this charging @ hole.
1-Who would you rather have on your team Randy Moss and a rookie 3rd rd G or Hutchinson and a rookie 3rd rd reciever?? Same money, no contest.
2-They have alot of $$ but will need every bit of it considering they have 1 OL starter and 1 DL starter under contract....and you just might want more of a team than just the line too!
3-I said the "Unless they move Kazcur to G" line with what I thought was obvious sarcasm, I will write SARCASM next to a joke for you next time...geesh.
4-Moron-here is your QUOTE-"Yes, ALL PRO Guards like Mankins just grow on trees. " I said Pro Bowl, you say ALL PRO, I think I made my point just fine.
5-I wish I could take more time off my work and look up every time Hutchinson had a disastrous Super Bowl, oh wait, I can.....he didnt, Mankins did.
6-Now I know counting to 6 is overtime for you so punch in. My research is just fine thanks. I dont mention(or rub it in)your screenname, maybe because I am allergic to hockey, but maybe because its the contents of the post not the poster itself that bothers you? FOCUS, 1+1=3, 1+1=3, 1+1=3. WHOLLA- you are a Bruin!

WoW, lets see if I got enough bullets for this charging @ hole. OOohhhh.. Big man can call me an AHOLE. Just keep talking out your arse, Jeff. When it comes to knowledge, people see who is the smarter one here..

1-Who would you rather have on your team Randy Moss and a rookie 3rd rd G or Hutchinson and a rookie 3rd rd reciever?? Same money, no contest. It depends on the team. If I am a running team, guards are pretty damn important. If I am a passing team, guards are still important, but so are WRs. BTW, Randy Moss has a cap figure of 9.75 million this year compared to Hutchinson's 7.5 million. Its not the same money.

2-They have alot of $$ but will need every bit of it considering they have 1 OL starter and 1 DL starter under contract....and you just might want more of a team than just the line too! I probably know the situation for next year better than you do considering I've been talking about it since the beginning of last season. Now, just a few corrections. Light and Koppen are both under contract going into next year (Miguel has it wrong on the free agency page, but correct in his spreadsheet). Kaczur and Mankins are RFA unless a new CBA is signed. Its not going to take 60 million to sign 20 players...

3-I said the "Unless they move Kazcur to G" line with what I thought was obvious sarcasm, I will write SARCASM next to a joke for you next time...geesh. Typical spin. Sarcasm? Yeah right. SURE it was.

4-Moron-here is your QUOTE-"Yes, ALL PRO Guards like Mankins just grow on trees. " I said Pro Bowl, you say ALL PRO, I think I made my point just fine. Listen, I know what I wrote. YOU misquoted me originally. The PRO BOWL is not the same as being an ALL-PRO. So, you claiming that you made your point is BS since you didn't even quote me properly.

5-I wish I could take more time off my work and look up every time Hutchinson had a disastrous Super Bowl, oh wait, I can.....he didnt, Mankins did. Hutchinson had a bad SuperBowl. And since you obviously didn't watch the Pats/Giants game, you'd know that Mankins wasn't horrible. Not compared to Kaczur, Koppen and Hochstein.

YOU are the one who has touted yourself as being such a great scientist in the past and that you know how to support things with fact. Yet you don't do that. Your research was horrible. It wouldn't have taken but 2 minutes for you to find Hutchinson's cap number and compare it to Moss.

The content bother me because of how erroneous they are. You clearly can't stand being corrected. You should have just said "Thanks for the corrections." Instead, you throw up more BS. Nice job, Jeff.

REEEED, WOOOW. I made my points, I copied and pasted your quote, no way you can sign 20 VETERAN players(Reiss just said 11/14 of their linemen arent signed beyond this year) and pay Mankins "Hutchinson-type" $$. Explain how that is erroneous? Now I have had some fun at your expense, if I hurt your "feelings" .....wtf are you doing bringing FEELINGS to a football board? You are making this personal, my profession has nothing to do with me being anything but analytical. I can make a quick point without "research", this isnt considered work outside of Texas you know! And you dont seem to take to jabs too well yourself, you dont post something like this without some kind of critical retort.....I am just trying to do it with some FLARE, to make some of us LAUGH, and I assure you my "bullets from my 6-shooter" analogy back to a guy from Texas were taken with the proper sense of humor....
