If one of the RB's is projected to available at 34, then 23 and 34 could be switched. My guess is that Don Brown will be only one left that we want and that there will be several acceptable OLB's. This would cause us to draft Don Brown a few places earlier than he "should" be drafted.

I don't know if Brown at 23 is controversial. I don't have a problem with the pick, only that I don't think it's a particular need. I think we've got outstanding talent at RB, four players deep. If it's a roster need, it's certainly something that we can wait a year for. I'm even satisfied with BJGE as our young project.

My do wish you'd take two quality LBs instead of two Ss. I love both your guys but I don't think we need both, with Sanders and Meriweather doing fine and under contract. But we do need some prime talent at LB, with Bruschi, Izzo, Seau, Vrabel and Colvin all recently departed, or soon to go. The kids we have at OLB are cause for some optimism, but nothing we can count on. And our youth at ILB beyond Mayo just does not inspire confidence.

Laurinaitis and English would be my first two picks, if it were mine to do.

No interest in Brown or any RB in the first 2 rounds. Brown is a fine player, but I don't see him being a better option than a healthy Maroney or Fred Taylor. If you really want a RB, take one in round 3 or later preferably either a big back such as Jennings or a pass catcher like Moore.

I see where you are going Cousin. Future building of depth. I agree on taking an RB. The moves BB considers are taking picks for the future according to Reiss. I think they have to move an RB who is on his last contract year in order to consider that though. FS Johnson is a surprise after you have Moore selected. I don't see a TE on your list? This might be a BB TE year with a larger class of TE's. Baker is going to be 30. He is solid but not a field stretcher. Watson is on his last year and is replaceable. Thomas is a JAG and Listori and Tyree are camp fodder. James Casey has been said to be one of the safest picks in this draft and according to Mayock the best hands of any receiver in this class. He can also do a version of the Wildcat so he has versatility. He had 6 TDs and a 4.6 yard average. People do not know this but he was going to be moved to starting QB for Rice in 2010 if he stayed. Maybe he saves a roster spot as third QB? He has a rocket of an arm. Three years ago was voted the best fast ball in the White Sox organization until he went back to school at Rice.
The burr under BB's saddle two years ago was losing Garret Mills to the Vikings trying to sneak him through waivers. Think Mills only bigger and faster. If he was a Mills fan who was drafted in the forth the same year Thomas was, Casey might be a surprise pick although some Mocks have him as a potential NE pick. Just a thought.

We have three TE's for this year. I'm fine with that. We also have DeVree and Lisorti competing for the 3rd spot with Thomas. I didn't know being thirty meant retirement.

I expect Baker to be here for a few years. In 2010, I expect at least of the 2009 backups or Practice Squad to make the squad.

I'm fine with a TE pick, but I suspect that we won't.

I've Belichick wants versatility at the TE position, then the best value will likely be Barwin. Casy is fine, but I don't see the upgrade as being much over Thomas; perhaps belichick will see the value and draft Casey.

That's a really nice draft. If we don't go LB at 23 then my preference is Malcolm Jenkins, William Beatty or Brown, in that order.

Tough to say having not seen much footage of Barwin's days as a TE between him and Casey, but I would bet that we'll see a TE called sometime on draft day, or a trade for Gonzalez, or....
Casey looks like a pretty good prospect, especially with his versatility and hands, but we'll see.

What I like about this draft is that it upgrades us almost everywhere. As of now, the following players would be cut for those seven. Obviously, many events will happen before the final roster. There is still also room for an upgrade at punter and/or #3 QB in the 5th and 6th rounds.

I think we need to real about this. We will pay Maroney a $600K salary this year. If we trade him, we will have to pay next year's bonus money now, so there will be a cap increase of about $800K.

No matter how little folks think of Maroney, he is worth having on the squad as the #5 RB, emergency running back, and as a kick returner.

I don't see us keeping BJGE instead of Maroney and paying $800K more in cap money. That makes little sense even if we pick up a 2010 2nd or 3rd round draft choice which seems unlikely.

To put in another way, the #5 RB is a bottom of the roster player and is paid that way. Maroney is likely to be one the more valuable #5's in the league rather than a #5 that we need to ship out of town.

I think we will take a lineman at 23. Either OL or DL. Don't want to wait until
97 to snag an ol. I was thinking 3-4 defensive end at 23. Seems too high for
Gilbert. Not sure Ziggy Hood is a 3-4 end. Might be a 4-3 tackle. If that's the
case. I can see a guy like Unger from Oregon C/G and the board erupts in Belichick
is an idiot threads. How bout M. Unger at 23? And, a rb like A.Brown at 97? Like
