if this is the case then, the the acquisition to get peppers will only aid in destroying this team........
This is where everything gets complicated....
1. Assuming the last need for the Pats is OLB and they acquired Pepper's for the 34th pick, than why do they need their 23rd pick?
If he wants to get pissed off about a franchise tag, there is nothing we can do.
But he is going to have to deal with New England, and we are likely to insist on at least one season under the franchise tag before we let him off the hook.
Even if he didn't care about playing in New England, he would still be better off signing long term here if our number is anywhere close to what he thinks he can get.
2. Taylor being a free agent is an option and might be cheaper. Allows the Pats to trade some picks and beats having to deal with the Panthers organization and Pepper's agent. Just gotta deal with Taylor's agent and it is a done deal. Doesn't seem like there is much of a market for him anyways.
I read somewhere that KC hasn't even reached the cap minimum yet.
Therefore, it seems logical that Jarvis Green could wind up in KC. Obviously, money would not be an issue.
Why on earth would you want to cut Faulk?
If I am correct Logan Mankins is also a free agent next year, and is probably looking for a long term deal. He won't be as costly as Wilfork, but his value to the o-line is just as important IMO.
As much as I would love Peppers I just don't want to see all that money tied up, and not have enough for Wilfork and Logan in 2010.
my question is why would they wait til after the coaches meeting?
It's not about waiting until after, it's that it's going to take at least that long to hash out the details:
1) Pats need to figure out what kind of contract Peppers would sign.
2) They need to figure out what moves/restructures they need to make that number fit their cap.
Neither of those things are going to be taken lightly, and both will take a while to complete.
Blast your hot pics ! Must focus on Peppers... must ignore hot babes.
But yes, I agree, the D could be making major moves towards... something, something hot pics...
Since the work probably started at least a month ago, why would the work take awhile to complete?
Or do you believe that the idea of trading for Peppers hasn't considered by Belichick until today?
