Ok, no-one else wants to say this, but...

Marvin Harrison is an egotistical thug who refused to renegotiate a contract he knows for a fact he's not worth with the team he's been with for 13 years.

How exactly is he Patriots' material?

Ok I dislike Marvin Harrison as much as the next Pats fan but that statement it just untrue.

By all accounts, he is a quiet, reserved player especially in this era of TO type WR's.

I have no idea where you came up with the thug part, unless of course you are referencing the case in Philadelphia, where the "victim" is currently being charged with lying to the police.

And as far as his contract is concerned how can you possibly blame him? The Colts look at the situation like a business and so should he, I would tell my boss to go **** himself if he told me that I needed to take a massive paycut right before I was set to retire.

That being said I dont want the Pats to go after him in FA

I started the thread out of curiosity, not to lobby for the guy. I expect he's welcome back at reduced pay, but it looks better to take less money and play elsewhere. For many of these guys, already millionaires with money invested to cover their needs/wants, it's about looking good, feeling good, etc.

If he can go and plunk down a 8-10 TD's for the Eagles or whoever, help them at least return to the post-season and cause some excitement in Philly, even for less $$$, why not?

We often talk about football players like money is the only consideration, yet we know that is not at all the BB and company attract players. Maybe his cash-guzzling days are over, but he might have a few big plays left in him. A change of scenery can sometimes spark the fumes in the tank.

We don't show any real use for the guy, but I hope he plays a little bit more, personally.

Harrison had developed a case of alligator arms, and the Patriots can't have that out of the #3 outside spot.

My thoughts exactly,DI...he hasnt been the same after his injury.Doesnt seem like he wants the ball anymore...

No. I don't like Colts. I'd prefer an old Holt. Actually I'd prefer a young neither.

I think that Marvin's main beef with Indy was his lack of looks. It's no secret that Reggie Wayne is the stud, and Anthony Gonzalez is the slot go-to guy (especially on third down).

There is no way that Marvin leaves that situation for an exact same situation elsewhere. The Wayne-Gonzalez combo are comparable to the Moss-Welker duo in style of play.

I am sort of getting the feeling Marvin wants to be "the man" again on a team. He lost his status with Wayne becoming #1, with Clark getting better and with Gonzalez breathing down his neck.
Granted, thats just how I feel. Many Colts fans would disagree with me. But, I do think he wants to go to a team who will give him more money than he likely deserves at this point and that will think he can get them over the hump in a way.

If he goes to a rival team than best of luck to him but I would not fear playing against him at this point.

He had a reputation as a thug long before the shooting incident. It's possible to be quiet and still be a thug, and Marvin's an example of that. That said, I don't begrudge him for not agreeing to terms with the Colts. He knows Philly will go and overpay him, and that's that.

The Eagles will overspend on Harrison to try to make McNabb happy.

Write it down.

ok i wrote it down. but then nothing happened.

Mike and MIke still sound stupid on TV, and i still don't want to go to work.

dude... Marvin is a thug piece of trash.

He makes millions upon millions a year. Yet he owns a crappy bar in the worst part of Philly, which is a huge waste of his time. flying out there to "run" that business is a waste of his time. It'd be different if he weren't a pro nfl receiver. He goes to that bar b/c he's a thug and he wants to be in that area.

That would be like me running a lemonade stand in Compton that nets me about 10 bucks a day. I would only do that if i wanted to be in that area.

the only thing that makes sense to me is that Marvin runs these bar and carwash businesses to wash illegal money. it's not like you can argue that these 2 places "give back" to the community

Marvin is clearly one of the weird dudes in the NFL. He never talks to anyone, sits alone on the bench and locker room - has no discernible friends on his team and has some weird stuff going on in his life that I'm sure he does not want anyone to know about.

I'm not a Philly fan, but as far as the NFC East goes, I want Philly to be the team that humbles the Cowgirls, the G-Strings, and Snyderbrenner's Traveling "All Fraud" team. Harrison would be a great fit for Philly. He may not have the legs he once had, but the guy will know his assignments and catch the balls that come his way. As for McNabb, he would not be threatened by Marvin's presence as he was during the TO years.

No, a thousand times NOOOOOO! He's a "ME" type of guy. Not a team player, a thug etc. I can just see it now. Someone calls a shotgun formation and he freaks and whips out a gat! Oh MY!!

Anyone who thinks Marvin Harrison isn't goog enough to be a #3 WR, you don't watch football, even at his age, the guy is a player, he has the experience to see the open holes in a defense.

If we added him, which I don't think we will becuase of $$, the 3 of Moss Welker and Harrison would be all time greatest even level talent in the WR corps.

Will the Pats kick Marvin's tires? He's officially an FA right now.

I hope not, but there is a small part of me that thinks the "idea" of Harrison and Moss splitting the field with Welker in the slot is legendary.

They might just have Marvin Harrison in to tweak Bill Polian.

its on the computer. Why would i write it down? On what? paper? After i write it down on paper i could lose it. If I keep it on the computer its there and I dont have to look for it.

that reminds me, a while back i listened to the Mellencamp song wheres he goes "Suckin on Chili dogs down at the tastee freeze...."

Who sucks on a Chili Dog? What does that mean? You eat a Chili Dog. I dont want to be around any-body who sucks on a Chili Dog, ok?

Man, you anti-pastists - the day will come when the power goes out, and some of us will still know the facts because we wrote it down.

YouTube - Everything's amazing, nobody's happy

BTW, Mellencamp was just looking for syllables. In case you hadn't noticed, he's not exactly Bono...

Read the Lyrics... and "sucking on a chilli dog" may have yoru considering another meaning...

Suckin' on chili dogs outside the Tastee Freeze
Diane's sittin' on Jacky's lap
He's got his hand between her knees
Jacky say, "Hey Diane let's run off
Behind a shady tree
Dribble off those Bobby Brooks
Let me do what I please."
And Jacky say,

FYI Bobby Brooks are a brand of Jeans...

he coulda said "Eaten on Chili Dogs, down at Tastee freeze...."

nobody is a bigger McCartney fan than I am but i must admit, John was right, he could lazy with the lyrics. THE WORST lyrics in history were written by Paul in "Another Me"

I know I was a lazy fool
for treating you the way I did
But sumethin got a hold of me
And I acted like a dustbin lid

DUSTBIN LID????? Good God, Paulie, put the joint down!!!!!!!!!!!

When you get a good chili dog, pile up with lots of chili, you'd really make a mess if you try to eat it just like it were a hot dog. You have two basic options other than sliming yourself. If you are a wuss you pick up a spoon and eat some chili off the top first. The better option: pick it up carefully, bite on the end, and kind of slurp in some of the loose piled-up chili off the top so that it is easier to take the next few bites.

So in my opinion, the description is fairly accurate.
