Man I wish i could see how the tight ends performed in the drills. Doesn't NFL.com have videos of those up yet?
BTW Jared Cook's numbers are eyepopping. Without a doubt he is the most athletic TE at the combine this year. Those are Vernon Davis type numbers. I still don't know how good his football skills are though. Is Cook just a workout warrior or is he going to be a really good NFL tight end?

Why do you want to draft a TE ? There is an opening for a third TE on the roster, so he will just sit...
Bear Pascoe in the 4th or 5th, fills the open position and is what they need.
Watson and Thomas have contracts expiring at the end of the 2009 season. DeVree is still an unknown, as is Listori. Cook isn't likely to be pushing the 1st round, his QBs at South Carolina...ugh....he's worthy of a closer look by Waldron and Caserio, though I still prefer Ryan Purvis. Why do you want to draft a TE ? Tell me that you're joking. You count Watson and Thomas as the Pats being set at tight end? Watson has a below 50% receiving rate at balls thrown his way and Thomas has shown absolutely zilch to even prove that he's worthy of being a #2 tight end. BB loves his tight ends. I can pretty much guarantee we draft one unless we pick up a good one via free agency.
The bummer for Sperry is he weighed in at 238 when I was expecting him to be 250-ish. He is a good blocker when I've seen him and Ochmed liked him back before the knee injury.Well, my top three going into the combine were Coffman, Cook, and Nelson...and I certainly see no reason to move Cook or Coffman down. Sperry caught my eye...he was off my radar.
My biggest surprise was Anthony Hill. Here's a guy that is thought to be a "blocking only" tight end, and he looked the best out of all of them in the gauntlet. He'll be sliding up the rankings.
I stand by my statement that Pettigrew's upside is a poor man's Daniel Graham.
I stand by my statement that Ingram doesn't do anything well. His hands were terrible.
He ran a lot faster than 4.50, he was at 4.42 in his first run. He's hugely athletic, but the early evaluations made him sound just like Watson - supremely talented, loses his focus and can drift at times. Capable of making a huge play though. I'm torn because he's a better athlete than some of the high end guys that have come out in recent years AND he's a willing blocker, but it would be a boom or bust proposition.
That 4.42 was the unofficial time. It would seem that, this year, they do have "OFFICIAL" times.. At least according to the NFLN broadcast.
I thought the automatically timed numbers weren't released. I haven't seen any official numbers, only the ones posted on the NFL's combine site, but whether those are official or not, I don't know. 8/10 of a second is a huge discrepancy though. He was really moving, so I'd be surprised if that first run was an official 4.5.

During a routine exam at the combine doctors noticed something out of the ordinary with Mandeville's heart. A further inspection led combine doctors to the diagnosis that Mandeville may have an issue with one of his heart valves.
Mandeville has since been informed by the examining doctors here in Indianapolis that he should not play football moving forward, and it seems his dreams of playing in the NFL have likely ended.
I wouldn't mind the Pats looking at Nelson. The knock on him was his blocking, but he did extremely well at the Senior Bowl.
You beat me to it, I was about to post this. Too bad for him, but if he does have a significant issue he's better off retiring than ending up dead. There have been too many tragic cases of what can happen.
