Guys, have any of you guys did a vert test. 40 inches is absolutely incredible I would compare that to running a 4.3 forty. This kid has great explosion as shown in the video but I would say if he breaks 30 inches he will be happy at his size.

Here are some vert numbers to look over. Michael Jordan, Spud Webb and Dee Brown for those Celtic fans.

Vertical Jump Test Scores

That is why I said "close to 66 inches". If he didn't bend his knees, it would have been at least 66 inches. Gilbert isn't doing a vert test so any guess as to his hops in the video is just that...a guess.

What height do you think his pool jump actually translates to? Ignore the water and just consider the edge of the pool is 38 inches high (conservative, probably closer to 40), he had to jump a good 2 feet forward to get to the edge and he landed on his feet...knees bent but not so much that he fell on his arse.

I'm not a physics guy. I have no idea what the trigonometry works out to. I expect it has a lot to do with joint strength and flexion. My issue was with the statement that if Adrian Wilson had jumped up onto a 66 inch platform and landed on his feet, his vert would have been close to 66 inches.

My desk is about three feet off the ground and I can stand flat-footed about a foot away and jump so I can land on my feet on my desk. These days I would estimate my vertical at < 18 inches. So I'm guessing maybe Wilson's vertical would translate somewhere in the 42-46 inch range.
