Where did they go? :(

Ian said he was going to be playing with it soon. He wants to remove the annonymity and, if possible, get rid of the bad reputations given out as people may have expected annonymity then have a new round of problems as they're "brought out of the closet".

Rep points are for cowardly people who cant stand in there and make their points so they anonymously take a shot and run away.
Good for Ian for taking away the anonymity. This isnt Alcoholics Anonymous. Its a chat room. Grow some.

d%#*!@t, I worked hard for those 17 points...

This makes me kind of happy...I had 2 sitting in my user cp that said "shut up" and "steelers suck" and I'm sitting here thinking...who said that!

LOL

Speaking as someone who had "amassed" 82 positive rep points: I think the rep system serves no useful purpose and is a bit high school-ish. If someone has a beef with a post they an PM the person or just respond in the thread. If someone is really out of line, the moderators need to step in. I say dump it altogether.

Agreed, I think it's stupid.

:ditto:....:agree: I had 70 something but the system is just too random to really be of any use. Now that it's gone let it stay gone.

It's like any other feedback tool, it can be abused - I felt the anonymity was a major problem with the system that led to abuses. Most people here don't seem interested in using it, I've grown accustomed to it at another sight and find it's a quick way to leave feedback on a good post without the need to create an addition to the thread just to say 'good job.'

I had someone who would log on between 5 and 7 in the morning to give me bad rep.
I was like WTF ... bad cup of coffee or no sex that night dude? :confused2:

I never paid attention to it on here, but on one of the Bills forums I'm on all my positive rep points come from the pics I post in the Adult section. Those Bills fans are a bunch of horndogs! LOL!!! One guy wants the title of the adult section changed to Smoke's Stompin Ground. :D:D:D

We need one of those sections :D

I think it's a great system to have, but that the anonymous aspect of the negative posts was a bit cowardly. I just think that if you're going to allow for the negatives (and I think it's good to have), the person making a post that will have a negative effect upon reputation should have to do more than just type in. If someone's leaving positive or neutral rep, I don't think that matters.

Of course, having the name does mean that the reputation can be returned, so it may make some gunshy. It's a tricky call, and I hope Ian can make a decision that he's comfortable with, because no system is perfect and some people will still end up complaining no matter what he does.

pretty much...... for the negative ones anyway. I got a bunch more positive ones than negative ones. The positive ones were mostly helpful and thoughtful stuff, like "well said", or "great point", or something to that effect.

All the negative ones were really ******ed stuff like "your a d!ck", "moron" or some other nonsense drivel. I even had a "I hate NY, Yankee's suck"....... first off, no sh!t  , second, it had nothing to do with anything. Utter garbage

I think the folks who did use it to give out greenies, did so honestly. But most of the negatives (at least that I saw), seemed to stem from cowardly douches that couldn't make effective counter arguments.

You've got some serious issues if you take the time to give somebody negative rep points. There are a lot of people I disagree with and there is more people that disagree with me. However, I'm not going to cry about it and give that person negative reps points. That shows your very cowardly and childish; the type of person that told on everybody in school.

I yanked it until we can institute something useful. Plus it would have been time consuming for me to go through each account and try and remove individual negative votes, etc. We'll come up with something better before camp.

Anonymous negreps bad, constructive and playful can be fun & useful if you know from whom they come, and for those who really enjoy being hostile, hopefully it gets them off the thread and back in the dark alleys of the board where only the victim suffers. :D
