So now they're willing to let him go for at least $21 MM and sign another coach for God knows how much?

Good for Gruden, and good for ND if they pull it off, but I'd be shocked if they could absorb that kind of financial hit.

They are not on the hook to him for much. College extensions are not valued the same way as the pros. In college, the coaches get paid a smaller amount as salary (in Weis's case, he gets $500k a year) and then they make the rest of their package through speaking fees, coaches clinics and especially a clothing deal, as with Nike.

I don't know what will happen, but if it's just a matter of Money, that will make no difference to ND - They have more money than we can possibly imagine and they are the only College team with a Network TV deal, so they don't want to be embarrassed on a weekly basis, they will do whatever they want to do - damn the repercussions.

Ryan and the Ravens run as a base D the 3/4 1 gap, I would guess he would keep the Jets a 3/4 team, but with less 2 gap read and react to an attacking all or nothing 1 gap.

Who else besides the 2008 Jets and Pats run a 2 gap 3/4, I don't think any other team does?
