Franchise Cassel. This will take a large chunk out of the

Patriot's salary cap space and limit early signings. Re-sign

Evans, Hochstein, Gaffney, Paxton, and L. Sanders.

Assuming we signthese, will any of the remaining FA's that sign with other teams get us any comp picks for 2010?

I thik trades have to count. I think we did fine with Patten, Stallworth, Gaffney, Moss, Welker, and even on Washington and Aiken although they are primarily Sters. To put it another way, we have had a fine passing game that has been due to more that Brady and great play-calling.

Trades are NOT free agency though. It's totally different. We had to give draft pick value to acquire Moss and Welker. With free agents, all you give up is money.

That would be like saying the draft is the same as free agency when it's not, or that trading is the same as drafting, when again it's not.

Wasn't my entire point based on the fact that the Pats usually had more success in TRADING for receivers than through free agency anyways?

The only ones of value would be J. Sanders and Wright. I can't imagine

they would yield a very high draft pick.
