Everyone is so sure that SP is ready to move on and part ways with the dynasty he helped create - I am not so sure.
I think where the was some question in the past on his intentions this time there seems to be more to it. I am not sure Scott is ready to part ways yet but I am pretty sure that he is ready to part ways for the perfect situation. Where in the past I may have thought there was no more perfect of a situation for him. Are the Browns the perfect situation? I think no but maybe the ownership is making it look like it is to Scott

I would tend to agree - I know he has a lot of fondness for the Krafts and Belichick, and that setup looks to be in place for years to come.
The only reason that there might be some truth is that Kirk Ferentz's name has surfaced. It is highly significant to me. As it implies that Scott Pioli has actually been thinking about what he would do as The Man. So the interview is more than a courtesy; I'll come and listen, it doesn't hurt.
Besides Kirk Ferentz is from the Belichick tree; and unlike Josh and Romeo has worn the HC mantel for several years. He wouldn't be in over his head, as a Head Coach, and has some more maturity. He also has previous NFL coaching experience. Making the jump from a Coordinators job is something where many fail.
Kirk has done that successfully, running the Iowa program. Plus he could then try to import respected NFL coordinators like Josh McD and/or retain Romeo C. Every one of these people knows and has worked with the others. They all know the Belichick and Patriots system on D and O, too.
For the past three years Romeo has been laying the foundation for the Patriots system in Cleveland. The drafts have brought in the key pieces. The LOT and QBs, are aboard; and some of the LBs and players for the D. Brady Quinn was even exposed to the Belichick system at Notre Dame under Charlie Weis. So it would not be as disruptive as a new regime usually is. And there is already some talent there, witness Romeo's 10-6 record the previous season.
I could see it happening.... Unfortunately. :scream:
Banks is a tool. Pioli wasn't even Lerner's top candidate for the GM position. That was Bill Cowher. Who turned Lerner down flat.
Nothing that Banks says answers the question of why Pioli to the Browns will happen. In fact, he raises more reasons why it won't happen.
Also, I would think that the Patriots pose an even bigger challenge going into what might potentially be the last season of the salary cap..
Lerner is effing this one up good. Demanding an answer "today" from the top prospect is an act of desperation. Each tick of the clock gives me hope that this is deal is dead.
the Ball drop will have extra meaning tonight provided I don't hear otherwise
Have to agree. This article basically says Pioli is leaving because "everyone feels" it's time for him to go (rather than Pioli has actually indicated he will leave).

Sorry Deb, But you and many others seem to think Pioli will somehow stay forever. I'd heard this being debated on EEI and one bit of info people are forgetting is; Pioli is probably making 800k - 1 mil a year in NE. The man is/will get offers approaching 5 mil a year contracts.
He will leave at some point.
Pioli was making approx $880K before he re-signed in 2005, it's closer to $3 mil per now.
