Patriots hosting Colvin today - Reiss' Pieces - Boston.com

The Patriots are hosting free-agent outside linebacker Rosevelt Colvin on a visit today at Gillette Stadium, according to a league source.

Colvin, who played for the team from 2003-2007, has not played a game this season after being released by the Houston Texans at the end of training camp.

The Patriots are a bit thin at outside linebacker, as Adalius Thomas remains sidelined with a forearm injury, and Pierre Woods was knocked out of Sunday's loss to the Steelers with a mouth injury. Colvin could potentially help fill a void at the position.

lets hope not...im still holding out on AD

but obviously woods is no simple injury

Re: Rosie's at Gillette today...

I hope Rosie is healed up and I would love to see him back if he's healthy!!!!!!!!

Re: Rosie's at Gillette today...

I have no idea why Rosie O'Donnel popped in my head before Colvin did.

Edit: I also have no idea why I typed 'no why idea why'

That's what I'm thinking, or Wood's isn't getting the job done. If this is all about rushing the passer, if Colvin's in good shape and up for a few games of QB murder/death/kill, I'm all for it. Might as well get him loosened up on Hasselbeck and Russell.

Brother, you may need therapy.

Come to think of it, she might make a good defensive end...

Re: Rosie's at Gillette today...

I'm a BIG fan of Colvin. A healthy one, of course. If he is healthy enough I would love to sign him, let him work into football shape over the next two weeks and have more pass rush for the Arizona and Buffalo games.

I definitely agree. why the heck not at this point

Would it be maniacal to wonder if Troy Brown might upgrade the safety spot at this point?

makes you think that our issues are system wide because of all the new parts.

Re: Rosie's at Gillette today...

Hopefully he is healed up and can be effective in the pass rush. God knows we could use his talents again. Doesn't look like either AD or Woods is coming back this year though. How did Woods break his jaw (most likely scenario for him)?

he hit a tighend a think for a tackle. he was able to walk off but had a very bloddy lower lip. you may be right or he lost some teeth

Re: Rosie's at Gillette today...

its about time. about 5 weeks late. but better late than never

Re: Rosie's at Gillette today...

hmmm, well this is something.

Re: Rosie's at Gillette today...

Damaged goods, would be shocked if they signed him.

If he does somehow make team, don't see him having any impact.

yeah but it maybe too late at this point.

Re: Rosie's at Gillette today...

ROSIE, ROSIE!!!!!!!

I hope that he is close to healthy and can contribute to this team( if he is signed).

This defense could use a playmaker and Colvin was that when he was healthy.

Here is to hoping that this is the case!!!
