White uniforms at home?

Does anyone know why the Pats went with the white uniforms at home? Did the white jerseys just replace the silver ones from years past?

Quite a few home teams went with white this weekend for one reason or another.

Browns, Ravens, Chargers, Eagles, Saints, and Dolphins (though they almost always wear white).

Back in the days of Raymond Berry, the Pats wore their whites at home every game I think. Berry thought they looked better than the reds. (And for that era, I think I agree.)

Other than that, the only time I can recall the Pats wearing white at home was a preseason game against Denver in 1997.

As for the silvers, I like how mine looks on me when I wear it, but on the players they didn't look good. Like they were wearing the whites and were sweating heavily.
