I am surprised that we have heard more from Wilfork.

In a perfect scenario Vince would take a team friendly deal with incentives. Then again that would be a 180 from the Vince of a year ago.

I would assume if the Patriots had approached Vince, we would have heard something.
Last year Vince went as far as cleaning out his locker.

Vince is not the same player of 4 or 5 years ago & I honestly would be shocked to see him get 1/2 his current salary on the open market.

We are letting McCourty test the market & Revis could also test the market.

My biggest nightmare as of today is we let McCourty & Revis walk & keep Wilfork at his current number.

Although that thought scares me, I have a ton of faith in Bill.

I am so glad Bill Belichick, the GM is not a Theo Epstien "pay based on past performance", type of GM.

I suspect that the Pats thinking on Wilfork is to give him a big retirement celebration. It's really hard to see a scenario where he returns to play for another year at a number that is mutually agreeable.

We'll hear more when his roster bonus is due. Next week? Until then, nobody has to do anything.

I just seen the pats are 12 million over the CAP wow that's means there will have to be cuts and reworked deals, even cutting revis only gives the pats like 3 million over the cap

Yeah I am afraid the end is near for Vince unless he will negotiate way down. I expect if he does sign, then there will be a lot of weight incentives. Vince will have to tighten his budget and waistline considerably.

I don't really understand all this clamoring I've heard for Wilfork to re-do his deal.

He re-did it last year. Maybe it's because he makes a lot this year. But that's by design. It was designed to cut his 2014 number in case he couldn't come back very well for the torn Achilles. And then let him recoup some of that money if his play returned to a high level. It did and has IMO.

Leave the man alone. He's earned it. I think we'll have to look elsewhere for extra cap space.

How the hell are they over the cap? The team that almost never makes a splash in free agency is over the cap, but Denver has millions under?

They'd be about $8M under if they cut Revis before (hopefully) re-signing him (using your $12M over). Cutting Revis saves $20M ($25M but $5M dead money).

Wasn't that your take last offseason ?

What? He didn't leave a cent on the table last year. He refused to take any pay cut, instead they turned his regular salary into incentives so he could earn his previous pay if healthy, and he did. He has already got payed(a lot) for his 2014 service. I don't think his level of play last year warrants an $8M cap hit, which is what he costs this year. At his age I don't think that he will improve any more, and last year he was far from his prime. He's earned to money he has earned to date. But we shouldn't continue to pay him a lot of money for his previous years, we should only do that if we believe he is worth that kind of money for future play.

You mean when he took a team friendly deal with incentives?

Isn't it actually 25?
It's $25M but I think of it as $20M as there's a $5M hit either way. So it's a $20M difference but you're right it's actually $25M.

Because almost all of Denvers great players were on rookie contracts.
