It's easy, and only takes a few moments.This.I know he won't because it's been said many times he's going to be a corner, but I'd love to see him at the SS position. I just drool at the thought of him playing a Chancellor type role in the middle of our defense and thumping guys in the middle of the field.
I know it's not that simple but still..
Browner is going to be playing some SS, he already discussed it with Bill. Mostly press cornerback and expected to erase TEs like Julian Thomas and Dennis Pitta or big possession type WRs. I think a combination of press cornerback lined up on TEs and possession WRs and some SS is awesome for him. When lined up at SS he is far better in coverage and zone than Chancellor. At 6'3 1/2 225lbs he is a good thumping hitter but not quite the blow up hitter of Chancellor but he is far superior in coverage with better zone ball skills. Most fans don't think Browner is any good playing off coverage but just watch his personal highlights and legion of boom highlights, he is freaking awesome playing in zones and off coverage. His hits are feared and he closes fast with great ball skills. With his press ability, ball skills, instincts and closing skills and big thumping hitting he would redefine what a prototype SS should be if he played there full time. I dunno where assumptions came from he can only play press and can't play off or zone because he is very good in zone and off coverage with great instincts, ball skills, and closing ability. Oh almost forgot he can really lay the wood and intimidate WRs. He is going to be an awesome all around Dback and bring an attitude and identity to the secondary. With him back when he is lined up at SS in a 4-3 I would like to see Chung get a shot at cover run chase hit weak side linebacker. He is about 6'0 and has to be near 220 lbs already. He is not strong in coverage for a safety but would be good in coverage for a LB. He already looks like a safety LB hybrid. He would only need to fill out several lbs to to about 225-230lb cover run hit linebacker. He takes on blocks very well and is a sure tackler and big hitter. If he bulked up to 225-230 he would be an intimidating LB covering the short range middle. Browner lining up at SS and Chung at weak side LB is a formation that really maximizes speed, coverage, and intimidating hitting
I don't know where you're getting your information, but Belichick spoke quite the opposite, as did Browner's old coach--Pete Caroll.
Brandon Browner at safety would be a horrible use of his skillset, as he'd get blown away. He loses effectiveness in coverage the further he gets away from the receiver, much like Kyle Arrington.
The idea is to have him use his size and physicality to jam the man close to the LOS, which will throw off the timing of the route.
Right to #2?....75% of snaps working his way up to game speed somewhat similar?
Not like he is signed for chump change. Wonder who will see their playing time drop off
I actually don't know where the ideas came from that he can't play off or he is only good for jamming. I can garuntee anybody he would not have been in the pro bowl if pressing is all he was good at. Watch all the legion/boom highlights he is very good playing off, zone, allowing separation and then closing for a hit, into, or breakup. He has very good plant and drive and closing quickness. His only weakness is actually trying to stay in WRs hip pocket and play tight with speedy WRs. After 15-20 yards or so a speed WR hits the Xtra gear and gets separation. Watch Highlights, Browner is fine playing off or zone. FS he wouldn't have long range to do that well but SS he would play close to the line stuff the run, cover the TE, and close in on short passes and hit. As for arrington such is all around terrible. He actually may be OK in pure zone because he can tackle and has range to close. Bill even said arrington could fill In for FS if needed, he can't press at all nor can he cover deep. He is supposed to be able to short range routes but he is a total waste. If all Browner could do is press at the line I would preferred bill signed DRC instead of Browner and arrington. But Browner made a ton of plays playing off. I don't even know why Arrington is on the payroll. Another loser thought he could get cheap production from that sux. Arrington, Lafail, combined their salary could be an impact player like, Decker,Sanders,DRC,Veldheer, mack
Browner's skills are jamming WR at the line, routing them to the sidelines where only difficult passes over a tall CB can be thrown to them, with safety help over the top. Those skills aren't very useful for covering tight ends or for playing safety.
Browner will be used when you want to take away the quick outside pass, something that fits nicely with a pressure rush package.

They need a fast 225-230 lb cover LB anyway since the failure of James Anderson. Collins is to long and explosive a blitzer to be used at weak side run stuffing cover chase hit LB. A 6'0 225-230 lb linebacker is prototype for that role. I liked Telvin Smith but Chung could have a niche. I don't think he has much of a future at SS. Once Harmon succeeds him I don't see anybody signing him for SS. A move to LB would keep him in the NFL.
He discussed it with bill? How do you know that?
